It's almost panto time at the Tron Theatre and this year's offering, Alice in Weegieland (1 Dec '17 - 7 Jan '18), written once again by Johnny McKnight, promises to take audiences 'doon the stank' to the weird and fantastical Weegieland populated by magical talking creatures and a power-hungry queen with a penchant for jam tarts (the cake, not the football team).

His solution is a collection of songs that are none other than the educational, catchy, and, beloved Schoolhouse Rock classics! Kids will have a blast with "Conjunction Junction;" "Lolly, Lolly, Lolly;"and "Verb: That's What's Happening"-and parents will love to revisit favorites like "I'm Just a Bill," (written by local Jazz legend Dave Frishberg). Adults will love this nostalgic trip back to 70's Saturday morning television.

Just last night, High school students from Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles, New York, Pittsburgh, and Seattle perform monologues by the legendary American playwright August Wilson as a part of the 6th Annual August Wilson Monologue Competition. Emceed by Kenny Leon (True Colors Theatre Co-Founding Artistic Director), the event was judged by Pauletta Washington, Stephen McKinley Henderson, David Cromer, James A. Williams and Narda E. Alcorn, with a special performance from the upcoming Broadway Tupac Shakur musical Holler If Ya Hear Me including cast members Saul Williams, Christopher Jackson, and Ben Thompson.
