On Sunday, September 28th at 7:00pm, Dreamlight Theatre Company will present the next installment of 'Bright Lights', a concert series dedicated to showcasing the work of emerging composers and lyricists in musical theatre.

Today, the Jefferson Awards announced the 150 nominations in 35 categories for Chicago Equity theatrical productions which opened between August 1, 2007 and July 31, 2008. Beginning with this season, the Jeff Awards is acknowledging the work of Large and Midsize theatres in separate categories for productions and technical elements.

Marriott Theatre celebrated its opening night of their regional premiere production of Les Miserables. The reception benefited Season of Concern, the Chicagoland theatre community's fund raising effort in the fight against AIDS. Preview performances begin February 13th, the opening is February 20th, and the show runs through May 11th, 2008. Alain Boublil and Claude-Michel Schönberg's THE PIRATE QUEEN will play its final performance on Broadway at the Hilton Theatre (213 West 42nd Street, NYC; A Live Nation venue) on June 17, 2007 following 85 performances and 32 previews.

Once Upon a Time in New Jersey, a new musical starring Jim Weitzer, Will Swenson and Kathy Voytko, received its world premiere at the Marriott Theatre in Chicago on July 12th, after beginning previews on July 5th

On January 9th, The Phantom of the Opera made Broadway history by becoming the longest-running production ever. The lavish musical, which will also reach its 18th anniversary on January 26th, reached its 7,486th performance on January 9th, overtaking Cats, the previous record-holder.
