Adapted for the American stage from Ferenc Molnar's 1909 play, Liliom, Carousel was one of the first musicals to contain a tragic plot. Often cited by Richard Rodgers as his favorite musical, the play also introduced such classics as You'll Never Walk Alone,
June is Bustin' Out All Over, and If I Loved You. Time Magazine named it the best musical of the 20th Century.
