Despite its 90s punk rock aesthetic, Jonathan Larson's tick, tick...Boom! so accurately captures the essence of your late 20s. Whether it's straddling the decision of whether to 'settle down,' or watching your friends' careers take off while yours feels stagnant, anyone can relate to the challenges depicted in this gem of a show. With Director Bo Frazier at the helm, BoHo Theatre brings this intimate-yet-in-your-face musical to life with a superbly talented cast, highlighting trans and gender non-conforming voices in the process.

Tomorrow, May 18, The Metropolitan Museum of Art will host a virtual, three-day, live convening during which scholars, artists, writers, performers, and activists including Sarah Lewis, (Associate Professor of History of Art and Architecture and African and African American Studies at Harvard University); artist Elizabeth Colomba; Samir Meghelli (Senior Curator at the Smithsonian Anacostia Community Museum); Anupam Sah (Head of Art Conservation, Research, Training at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Vastu Sangrahalaya); and artist Alexis Peskin will discuss recent shifts in how museums engage and interact with their publics in response to the ongoing pandemic and international calls for social and racial justice.  

Darkness RISING Project has announced a $20,000 grant from Lloyd's, a specialist insurance market, to continue their groundbreaking work with mental health in the Black community.

According to Variety, developmental lab series New Works Provincetown, which celebrated it's first season in 2019, has commissioned a new musical from Jonathan Tolins (Buyer & Cellar) and Scott Frankel and Michael Korie (War Paint, Grey Gardens).

New York Theatre Barn's 12th season continues with its signature New Works Series on Monday, September 16th, 2019, with exclusive pre-premieres of the new musicals The Pickup Artist and My Name is Annie King. New York Theatre Barn serves as a home for new musicals during incubation.

Join the Black Broadway community as they perform inspirational cover songs at Darkness RISING: Live 2. The concert benefits Darkness RISING Nonprofit, an organization which focuses on mental wellness in the Black community. The event will be held at the Knitting Factory Brooklyn at 7pm (doors open at 6:30pm). Knitting Factory is located at 361 Metropolitan Ave in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.
