The new musical Swept Away, with music by The Avett Brothers, will begin performances on Broadway this fall.

On Monday night, Broadway’s Matt DeAngelis (Waitress), who lost his mother, Janice, in 2022 to metastatic breast cancer, gathered his dearest Broadway friends and industry colleagues together for THE JANICE JAM: BROADWAY FOR BREAST CANCER and raised over $52,000 for Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF). On Wednesday evening, The Avett Brothers (Scott Avett, Seth Avett, and Bob Crawford) celebrated the opening of their new musical, Swept Away, running at Arena Stage’s Kreeger Theater at the Mead Center for American Theater in Washington, D.C. through January 14 after a thrice-extended run at Berkeley Repertory Theatre in early 2022. The Ariana DeBose-led sci-fi thriller I.S.S. has been picked up by Bleeker Street for a U.S. theatrical release. Directed by Gabriela Cowperthwaite and written by Nick Shafir, the film was produced by Pete Shilaimon, Mickey Liddell. The cast also includes Chris Messina, Pilou Asbæk, John Gallagher Jr., Costa Ronin, and Maria Mashkova.

The plot follows a mother (Emma Roberts), father (John Gallagher Jr.), and their infant son as they move into a remote farmhouse, which harbors a dark, haunting history. As they begin to uncover their home's past, the mother’s fragility escalates to a state of psychosis that jeopardizes their family's safety.
