The Kennedy Center Sets 15th Annual PAGE TO STAGE New Play Festival Lineup

The Kennedy Center hosts its 15th annual Page-to-Stage New Play Festival from Saturday, September 3 to Monday, September 5, 2016, featuring more than 50 theaters from the D.C. metropolitan area, all with a mission to produce and support new work.

Everyman Theatre has announced its 2016-2017 season. Hot off its 25th anniversary season that garnered record breaking box office success and the largest annual attendance in company history, Everyman brings its aesthetic for quality storytelling which its audiences have grown to love to three exciting new plays this season- the hilarious and poignant Dot by Colman Domingo, Jen Silverman's hysterical play The Roommate, and for the first time in Everyman's history, the theatre is commissioning a re-imagining of Tony Award nominees Michael John LaChiusa and Ellen Fitzhugh, new musical entitled Los Otros.

Everyman Theatre is excited to announce the introduction of a new series of informal play readings. The inaugural series, titled "Women's Voices in American Theatre," will highlight some of theatre's greatest women playwrights through four staged readings curated by the women of Everyman's Resident Acting Company.  The readings will take place in the theatre's second-floor rehearsal hall, which will be transformed into a funky stripped-down performance space, on four Monday evenings:  April 25, May 9, May 23 and June 6 from 7PM to 9PM.

If you have not had the opportunity to experience this workshop production, you should not miss the opportunity to witness this rarest of theatre pieces. The Admission, by Israeli playwright Motti Lerner, does what few plays succeed in doing. The play confronts with searing honesty a reality few want to know or much less think about, giving voice to all sides of a situation that continues to rattle the world: the birth of Israel and the Israeli/Palestinian conflict. And it does so without resorting to hyperbolic rhetoric, contemptuous righteousness, or what so often happens, melodrama.

The Baltimore Book Festival arrives in Mount Vernon on September 27, and Center Stage will participate all weekend long. On Saturday, September 28, the Theater will once again open its doors during the festival for Backstage @ Center Stage. Families can join Center Stage staff, artists, and volunteers for the annual, free open house that offers a behind-the-scenes look at the theater.

Each play will be presented once, following an eight to ten hour workshop with a director and actors from the New York theater community.
