BWW Reviews: Shakespeare Festival St. Louis's Triumphant Productions of HENRY IV and HENRY V
by Chris Gibson
- Jun 2, 2014
Since the stories and cast of HENRY IV (pts. 1 & 2) and HENRY V intertwine, it's only fitting that I review Shakespeare Festival St. Louis' marvelous productions together. The shows will alternate (every evening except Tuesdays), and there will be special performances the next two weekends where both plays will be performed back to back. It's an amazing feat and since it's free to the public there's no reason not to pack up the whole family for a trip to Forest Park to check out these entertaining history lessons. Artistic Director Rick Dildine has put together an experience that I cannot recommend highly enough. It's truly a triumph.

BWW Reviews: Rep's Brilliant Production of FREUD'S LAST SESSION
by Chris Gibson
- Nov 7, 2013
Set in 1939, when Poland was falling to the Nazi's and Britain was being pulled into what would become World War II, playwright Mark St. Germain's engaging work FREUD'S LAST SESSION is a fascinating look at the historic meeting between two very different minds. Impeccably acted and directed, this Studio Theatre presentation by The Repertory Theatre of St. Louis is a brilliant 75 minute piece that enlightens and entertains. This is absolute must-see theatre.

BWW Reviews: Shakespeare Festival St. Louis Presents Exceptional Production of HAMLET
by Chris Gibson
- May 30, 2010
When the weather cooperates as sweetly it did on opening night (May 28, 2010), there's nothing that can compare to the experience of sitting under the stars in Forest Park and watching an ensemble of top notch performers and technicians take on the task of staging one of William Shakespeare's classic works. Shakespeare Festival St. Louis is presenting HAMLET this time around, and it's a splendid production that will provide attendees with the opportunity to catch a performance of what may well be the most famous play in history. It's certainly Shakespeare's finest hour, and you're certain to encounter a veritable plethora of familiar phrases that have become part of our own creative language as you listen to his sparkling dialogue.
