As one family gathers to celebrate the life of their matriarch, they have a lot to say about the role of women-especially African-American woman-in history…and they do it through songs you already know. With songs ranging from "Oh Happy Day" to "I Will Survive" and the music of artists from Billie Holiday to Beyonce, you'll be tempted to sing along.

Popular up-and-coming writer and performer Tim Realbuto, who is most know for co-creating the musical GHOSTLIGHT and for a string of concerts called WUNDERKIND, highlighting his life growing up in show business, has announced his next concert venture. The show is called TIM REALBUTO IS INAPPROPRIATE and it will play on Monday, February 8th at 7:00 PM at NYC hotspot The Cutting Room.

Broadway in Bryan Park continued its 2015 program on Thursday - and BroadwayWorld was on hand to capture the first day. On Sunday, March 15 2015, to celebrate Broadway Sings for Pride's (www.BroadwaySingsforPride.com) upcoming 5th Anniversary Gay Pride charity concert in June, they will be amping up the star power and going into the recording studio. The selection of songs will be favorites from their previous shows and cast members who support Broadway Sings for Pride including a special arrangement of Seasons of Love featuring RENT Alumni.

SISTAS: The Musical, the joyful Off-Broadway production recently celebrated its three year anniversary at St. Luke's Theatre. The cast, crew, and creative team gathered after the November 8 performance to celebrate with audience members and to kick off the show's fourth season.

FST opens the Winter Mainstage Season with the energetic and colorful production of Hairspray based on the film by John Waters, with book by Mark O'Donnell and Thomas Meehan, music by Marc Shaiman, and lyrics by Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman. Hairspray opens on November 15 and runs in the Gompertz Theatre through January 4, 2015. Rain has so far prevented Bryant Park Corporation and The Drilling Company's Shakespeare in the Parking Lot from presenting 'Hamlet' under the stars this Holiday Weekend in Bryant Park. So a special performance has been set for Monday, May 26 at 7:00 PM, when excellent weather is now in the forecast. The public is invited to savor Shakespeare's best-known tragedy as the holiday weekend draws to a close.

As part of the company's 8th season, downtown theatre company The Amoralists will present full-length readings of 7 new plays at 'AmoralFEST 2014: Revengeance.' AmoralFEST is an annually curated series of public readings of full-length plays, portions of which The Amoralists have, over the course of the last season, read in AmoraLAB, the company's monthly(ish) experiment that hands their actors over to promising playwrights and their provocative new plays.
