James Whiteside, ballet's boldest American principal dancer with an intrepid and creative pop singer persona, JBDubs, is launching a global casting call for his latest music video for Left Alone, the next single off his third pop record, Bodega Bouquet, released last month. In collaboration with The Trevor Project, a leading organization that provides crisis intervention and suicide prevention, the video will seek to raise funds to support their work in supporting LGBTQ youth, while celebrating inner strength, resilience and bravery in the LGBTQ community and beyond.

James Whiteside, ballet's boldest American principal dancer with a daring and unapologetic persona on and off stage, announces the release of his latest pop album, Bodega Bouquet, Monday, July 27, 2020. Released under the stage name JBDUBS and written and produced by Whiteside, the memoir-esque collection of songs will be available for download and streaming on all digital platforms.

What better way to celebrate the bard's birthday than with a marathon? While the doors of Irondale Ensemble Project remain closed amidst the Coronavirus outbreak, the company launched a 8 hour Shakespeare sonnet marathon in honor of Shakespeare's birthday, performing for over nearly 2,000 people throughout the day. Over 110 participants, spanning from age 9-90 joined the company to read and contribute.

As 2020 approaches, a new appreciation of male virtuosity demands consideration. Possibilities for dancers have exploded over the last decade as extreme stretching and acrobatics have come into vogue, though not always for the best. While circus tricks and random moments now seem to rule the stage, not all 'innovation' has been destructive for men. Where once trying to play it straight was the norm, this generation of performers gives zero f*x for anything other than staying true to their artistry and health.

Michigan Opera Theatre (MOT) and the University Musical Society (UMS) have announced the cast for American Ballet Theatre's (ABT) production of a?oeSwan Lake,a?? presented at the Detroit Opera House April 16-19. Starring in the role of Odette/Odile will be ABT Principal dancers Devon Teuchser, Isabella Boylston, Christine Shevchenko, Hee Seo and Gillian Murphy. Cory Stearns, Joo Won Ahn, Thomas Forster, Aran Bell and James Whiteside will alternate the male lead of Prince Siegfried.
