IFC's DOCUMENTARY NOW to Release 'Co-Op' Original Cast Album

IFC and Lakeshore Records announced today that three-time Emmy-nominated series Documentary Now! has taken its commitment to the comedic artform to new extremes. 'Original Cast Album: Co-op,' the meticulously crafted and 2019 Emmy-nominated episode about the cast album recording of the 1970 'Broadway musical' Co-op, will release its long-awaited Original Cast Album digitally on July 26, with proceeds donated to Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS. The original cast album will include the soon-to-be Marie's Crisis classics 'Holiday Party (I Did a Little Cocaine Tonight),' which will be available as an instant grat track on all preorders beginning Friday, July 19, and solo anthem 'I Gotta Go,' both sure to bring piano bar patrons to their feet with every rising note. IFC will also be publishing sheet music so everyone can make their Co-op sing-along dreams a reality. The song 'Holiday Party (I Did a Little Cocaine Tonight),' with lyrics by John Mulaney & Seth Meyers and music by Eli Bolin was recently nominated for an Emmy for Outstanding Original Music & Lyrics.
IFC To Air Sing-Along Version Of COMPANY-Inspired Episode Of DOCUMENTARY NOW!

On Friday night, June 7 at 1AM (Saturday morning) IFC will air a sing-along version of “Original Cast Album: Co-Op”. The special episode will also be available on demand and on the IFC app. Snubbed by the American Theater Wing's Tony Awards® in 1970, even though it only ran for one performance, “Co-Op” is re-taking the theater world by storm thanks to being featured in Season 52 of the critically-acclaimed IFC series Documentary Now!. Though the Tony Awards® faltered, many are wondering if the Emmys® will take notice.

Theatre Nervosa To Present THOM PAIN (BASED ON NOTHING)

Theatre Nervosa, a new pop-up theatre company offering timely, relevant productions, will present Will Eno's play Thom Pain (based on nothing) March 20 - 23 at the Underground Collaborative. The piece will be performed by A.J. Magoon and directed by John Schneider. All performances will take place at 7:30 p.m.

IFC announced that Michael Keaton (Birdman) and Owen Wilson (Zoolander) will star alongside Necar Zadegan (Here and Now) in an upcoming two-part episode of Documentary Now!, the Emmy(R)-nominated comedy known for lovingly paying homage to the world of documentaries. The episode titled, 'Batsh*t Valley,' will headline Season 52's seven-episode lineup, with both parts premiering back-to-back on Wednesday February 20 at 10PM. Documentary Now! is co-created by Fred Armisen, Bill Hader, Seth Meyers and Rhys Thomas and executive produced by Lorne Michaels.

DOC NYC, America's largest documentary festival, announced the full lineup for its ninth edition, running November 8-15 at the IFC Center in Greenwich Village and Chelsea's SVA Theatre and Cinepolis Chelsea. The 2018 festival includes 135 feature-length documentaries among over 300 films and events overall. Included are 42 world premieres and 17 U.S. or North American premieres, with more than 500 doc makers and special guests expected in person to present their films or participate on panels.
