Drawing on the diaries her father kept for 63 years (documenting, among other things, Keefes own raucous youth) and letters from her mother, and research from doctors, Keefe weaves generational perspectives on real-life events and traumas while she reveals her growing respect for her parents as the diaries and letters expose the storm of parenthood that they weathered. This work contains Keefes trademark wisecracking humor and wacky sensibility as well as touching revelations.
