Toronto's KINKY BOOTS, Starring Alan Mingo Jr., Extends Through November

The Toronto Star writes that the Canadian premiere of the Tony Award-winning KINKY BOOTS, which opened June 28 at the Royal Alexandra Theatre, has been extended through November 8, 2015. Tickets for the added six weeks of performances go on sale July 6.

There's a party happening every day at The Royal Alexandra Theatre in Toronto - and that party is the Canadian production of Kinky Boots which opened Sunday night. The mostly Canadian cast, save for American newcomer Alan Mingo Jr. as Lola earned a standing ovation from the opening night audience.

American Broadway touring vet Alan Mingo Jr. will star as Lola - the role originated by Billy Porter in the Broadway production. Mingo Jr. joins Graham Scott Fleming as Charlie Price, a casting which BroadwayWorld previously reported. The Toronto production is set to begin performances at The Royal Alexandra Theatre on June 16, 2015.

Tom Kitt and Brian Yorkey's NEXT TO NORMAL is a Pulitzer prize winning and Tony award winning musical that continues to touch the hearts of many. The show about bipolar Diana Goodman and how her illness effects her and her whole family continues to touch peoples hearts. It takes a certain amount of passion, emotion, care, and overall talent to perform this complex piece. The LOT (Lower Ossington Theatre) seems to understand this, as its production of the show will leave its audience in tears.
