New Artistic Director Announced at Seattle Shakespeare Company

Seattle Shakespeare Company Board Chairman Phil Miller today announced the Board of Directors has found an "an outstanding artist and great leader" in George Mount, saying Mount's leadership within the Seattle arts community, demonstrated experience as a producer, and passion for Shakespeare and the classics make him the ideal candidate to lead Seattle Shakespeare Company to a new horizon.

Seattle Shakespeare Company announced plans to produce half its season at Intiman Playhouse and half its season at Center House Theatre for 2011-2012. A Midsummer Night's Dream and Pygmalion will be performed at Intiman Playhouse, while Coriolanus and As You Like It will be performed at Center House Theatre. Also, the previously announced performance dates for As You Like It have changed to May 30 through June 24.

Wooden O Presents MACBETH and THE COMEDY OF ERRORS in Summer 2011

Mysticism and mirth pair up this summer for Seattle Shakespeare Company's free Wooden O outdoor productions of Macbeth and The Comedy of Errors. Both productions, which feature elements of the supernatural (one dark and foreboding, the other lampooned), will be performed in parks throughout Puget Sound starting on July 7. Wooden O's Artistic Director George Mount will stage a vaudeville-inspired production of The Comedy of Errors while Tim Hyland helms Macbeth, Shakespeare's eerie tale of ambition. All performances are free and open to the public with donations encouraged at the site.

Greenstage presented Seattle's Outdoor Theater Festival in Capitol Hill's Volunteer Park over the weekend of July 10th and 11th to kick off the many Summer park shows around the Puget Sound area. The festival encompassed 11 shows from eight different companies and while they mostly followed a Shakespearean bent there were also a few decidedly non-Shakespearean shows but all good fun for all ages and it's all FREE.
Seattle Shakespeare Adds Performances To A MIDSUMMER NIGHTS DREAM

Seattle Shakespeare Company has added two performances of its new touring production of A Midsummer Night's Dream to the company's season schedule of plays. Directed by George Mount, Director of Outdoor and Touring Productions, A Midsummer Night's Dream will play Sunday, March 21 at 7:30 PM and Saturday, March 27 at 10:30 AM at the Center House Theatre.
Seattle Shakespeare Co Adds ELECTRA To 2009-2010 Indoor Season Line-up

Seattle Shakespeare Company announced that it has added Sophocles' Electra to the 2009-2010 indoor season. Sheila Daniels, who staged the company's production of Pericles and is Artistic Associate at Intiman, will direct Frank McGuinness' adaptation. Electra replaces the previously announced production of Hamlet.

Seattle Shakespeare Company announces its Wooden O free, outdoor summer plays - The Taming of the Shrew and Richard III - which will run July 9 through August 2. Both plays will perform in park venues throughout King County (please see attached schedule). All performances are free and open to the public. Donations are heartily encouraged.

Seattle Shakespeare Company announced plans for the theatre's 2009-2010 indoor season of plays as well as for a state-wide tour to schools and performing arts centers. The theatre's indoor season at the Center House Theatre at Seattle Center begins in December with a holiday-themed production of Shakespeare's Twelfth Night.
