The FirstWorks Artistic Icon Series continues with "Walking with 'Trane," a new live music/dance event created by the electrifying, Brooklyn-based Urban Bush Women dance troupe in tribute to the life of legendary jazz saxophonist John Coltrane and his seminal jazz suite, "A Love Supreme." Urban Bush Women created the work to celebrate two important anniversaries-50 years since the revelatory "A Love Supreme" album and 30 years since the founding of Urban Bush Women. "Walking with 'Trane" premieres in Rhode Island on Saturday, February 27, 8 p.m. at The Vets in downtown Providence. Doors will open at 7 p.m. for JumpStart festivities in the venue lobbies. Tickets are on sale now at 401-421-ARTS (2787) and at first-works.org.

FirstWorks Announces Sets 2015-16 Season

FirstWorks, Rhode Island's premiere organization for connecting art with audiences and the nonprofit producer of the recent Providence International Arts Festival, rode the post-festival momentum today with the announcement of its 2015-16 season. Their new season kicks off the week of Nov. 16, 2015, and brings together a diverse roster of luminary artists across the genres of music, dance, spoken word and interactive performance. Now entering its second decade, FirstWorks is expanding its Artistic Icons Series at The Vets, inaugurating a new Frontier Series of genre-defining artistry, and making each performance a festival unto itself with free, pre-show programs designed as local cultural showcases in event venue lobbies.

The UW World Series brings Seattle audiences some of the most exciting artists and companies from around the globe.
