 Quintessence Theatre has announced the Philadelphia Premiere of Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Suzan-Lori Parks’ acclaimed play, Father Comes Home From The Wars, Parts 1, 2 & 3.

For its third production of the 2023-24 season, Bristol Riverside Theatre will present a poignant depiction of 1950s Chicago from the experiences of one Southside family in Lorraine Hansberry’s A Raisin in the Sun.

World Will Turn announces the release of Bloodkin's 'Out Of State Plates' remixed and remastered with two additional tracks. In addition to Bloodkin co-founders Daniel Hutchens and Eric Carter, the musicians include guest artists Michael Houser, John Hermann, and Todd Nance of Widespread Panic and Moe Tucker of Velvet Underground and Dave Blackmon.

Inis Nua Theatre Company is premiering the first Mainstage production of their 19th season with the American premiere of Meet Me at Dawn, written by Scottish playwright Zinnie Harris. Meet Me at Dawn will be directed by Sam Tower and stars Hannah Gold and Jackie Soro. The show runs until March 5, 2023. All performances will take place at the Louis Bluver Theatre. August Wilson's FENCES will run at Playhouse on Park November 2 - 20, 2022. This production will be directed by Kenney M. Green. FENCES is a part of Playhouse on Park's 14th Main Stage Season, the theme of which is Perseverance. Greater South Jersey Chorus will present a new collaboration with the South Camden Theatre Company and the Camden County Historical Society, through generous funding from PNC Arts Alive and the Camden County Commission for Arts & Heritage, for performances on Saturday, May 14th, and Sunday, May 15th of “Let My People Go! A Spiritual Journey Along the Underground Railroad,” music composed and arranged by Donald McCullough with a script by Denny Clark.

As I walked in to recent Barrymore-winning Director Amina Robinson's newest project, I was excited to see what she would do next. But, Azuka Theatre's Sunset Baby was something Robinson and her projects are usually not: unremarkable. 

Azuka Theatre kicks off their 2019-2020 season with Sunset Baby, by nationally acclaimed playwright Dominique Morriseau. In Sunset Baby, a mother's bequest of love letters written to her infamous husband create a foundation for a fraught father-daughter relationship. What is worth holding onto, and why? The script is an energized, vibrant, and witty look at the point where the personal and political collide. The production is directed by Amina Robinson and stars Victoria Aaliyah Goins (Nina), Steven Wright (Kenyatta) and Eric Carter (Damon). Sunset Baby runs from November 6 to November 24, 2019, with opening night set for Saturday, November 9, 2019 at 7:00pm, at Louis Bluver Theatre at The Drake (302 S. Hicks Street). Azuka continues its pay-what-you-decide model for this show where audiences are invited to experience the art on stage and pay based on the value of their experience after.
