It's a quintessentially American story of perseverance against all odds, one that features Trenton's most famous family. By special invitation, Theater To Go presents "Roebling: The Story of the Brooklyn Bridge" at Mercer County Community College's Kelsey Theatre for one weekend only: Friday, Nov. 11 at 8 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 12 at 8 p.m., and Sunday, Nov. 13 at 2 p.m.

Manhattan Musical Theatre Lab, a developmental organization founded 17 years ago by the late Director and Choreographer Bick Goss, will present the new musical Brooklyn Bridge at the St. Luke's Theatre on October 24 at 6:30 pm (St. Luke's is at 308 West 46th Street, between 8th and 9th Avenues). With a book and lyrics by Ray Roderick, music by Joseph Baker, and musical direction by Laura Bergquist, Brooklyn Bridge is an innovative musical inspired by the extraordinary life of Emily Roebling, wife of Brooklyn Bridge Chief Engineer Washington Roebling.

John Roebling was the driving force behind the construction, engineering and architectural innovations of the Brooklyn Bridge, which in themselves were groundbreaking, but the steel cables, which Roebling revolutionized, support many suspension bridges in the United States, notably the George Washington Bridge and the Golden Gate Bridge.

On Thursday, March 18, Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz and Deputy Borough President Yvonne Graham hosted the annual Women's Herstory Induction Ceremony and Reception at Brooklyn Borough Hall. The event honors women in Brooklyn who have excelled in the arts, sciences, business and public service.
