PAGE 73 PRODUCTIONS (Page 73) (Michael Walkup, Producing Artistic Director; Jenny Lagundino, Managing Director; Liz Jones and Asher Richelli, Founding Directors) has named C.A. Johnson the 2018 P73 Playwriting Fellow. Selected from over 400 applicants, Johnson will receive a $10,000 award and additional $10,000 budgeted for developing several new plays over the course of the year.

With its newest program, Scratchpad Series, The Playwrights Realm is proud to grant career-propelling developmental workshops to three promisingly talented, diverse and dedicated playwrights: Benjamin Benne, MJ Kaufman, and Miranda Rose Hall.

In 1928, Ruth Snyder was executed for the murder of her husband; that same year, Sophie Treadwell wrote Machinal, inspired by Snyder's story. Now, playwright Steph Del Rosso has crafted a relentless, raucous exploration of feminism - part rock concert, part performance art - inspired by Treadwell's expressionist masterpiece. This production, created for the IDEAS Festival 2017 in San Diego and subsequently presented at Ubuntu Theater in the Bay Area, lands at JACK under the direction of rising theater-maker Will Detlefsen.

SPACE on Ryder Farm, the non-profit artist residency program located on Ryder Farm, an idyllic 200 year-old working organic farm in Brewster, New York announced its 2017 season for The Working Farm, Family Residency, Creative Solutions Symposium and Artistic Residency programs at The Players Club. The Alliance/Kendeda National Graduate Playwriting Competition continues to spotlight the best emerging playwrights with a full production for the competition winner and staged readings for four competition finalists.  Too Heavy for your Pocket, the 13th competition winner, will have its world premiere on the Hertz Stage February 4 - 26, 2017.  Opening night is Thursday, February 9, 2017. 

Celebrating 10 seasons of Roundabout Underground, Roundabout Theatre Company has announced the sixth annual Roundabout Underground Reading Series, a five-night event that includes nightly readings of new works written and directed by emerging artists, as well as post-show receptions. The Reading Series will feature new works by Saheem Ali, Emily Feldman, Alex Lubischer, Don Nguyen, Ming Peiffer and Michael Thurber.

The Playwrights' Center's 45th anniversary season kicks off October 17 with PlayLabs, a week-long new play festival featuring Core Writers Christina Ham ('West of Central'), Susan Soon He Stanton ('we, the invisibles') and Ken Urban ('The Remains').
