More than 400 Dallas leaders, philanthropists and lovers of the arts came together in “The Room Where it Happened” to celebrate the magic of musical theater at DSM’s 2021 Gala – An Evening with the Best of Broadway Featuring HAMILTON.

More than 100 performers from Arizona and nationwide will hit the stage for Valley Youth Theatre's (VYT) VYTal Affair-athon, an eight-hour, Jerry Lewis-style virtual event to be streamed live.

Tonight, the classic musical, The Sound of Music, opened as the second offering of The Muny’s 103rd season. According to the show’s director, Matt Kunkel, The Sound of Music, is a show about love of God, family, and country. Kunkel is helming his first full scale production after serving as a Muny directing intern during college. In a previous interview, he told Broadway World that this production would strive to give people what they remember from the movie while staying true to the original theatrical source material. To connect to the movie, this production included the songs ‘Something Good’ and ‘I Have Confidence’ that were written for the film.

Wiltshire Creative today announce their programme for Autumn 2021, featuring theatre, live music, comedy nights, film screenings, craft workshops and more. Throughout the season they will also continue their commitment to engaging communities in the South West and encouraging creativity in audiences of all ages, from an extensive youth arts programme to celebrating older generations.

St. Louis native Elizabeth Teeter will take The Muny stage this week in The Sound of Music to play Liesl, the eldest of the von Trapp children. Elizabeth has performed in Broadway and Off Broadway Productions, but started her acting career at The Muny. It is no surprise that she found a home on the stage as theater runs in her family. Her father is Broadway veteran Lara Teeter who teaches Dance at Webster University.  Her mother, Kristen, also teaches Dance at Nerinx Hall High School in St. Louis.  BroadwayWorld sat down with Elizabeth to learn about her memories of performing at The Muny, how she approaches this role, and who has influenced her young career in the performing arts.

Something About George – The George Harrison Story will close the festival on Sunday 12 September, with performances at 5pm and 8pm. Running time is 75 minutes no interval, tickets are on sale now. 

The Muny in St. Louis' Forest Park opened it 103rd season with a performance of Smokey Joe's Cafe on Monday evening with a near capacity crowd. Smokey Joe's Cafe was Broadway's longest running musical revue and features 39 songs written by Jerry Lieber and Mike Stoller including Stand by Me, Poison Ivy, Jail House Rock and Spanish Harlem.

Metro Theater Company's major fundraising event After Dark is going virtual. Originally scheduled for May 7, the gala was postponed to Thursday, September 24 at 7 p.m. in response to COVID-19.
