Mint Theater's SUMMER STOCK STREAMING FESTIVAL Begins Today

Mint Theater Company's Summer Stock Streaming Festival, featuring archival recordings of three past productions, begins today, Monday July 6th. All three productions will be available through July 19th only from the Mint website.

Axis Theatre Will Present WASHINGTON SQUARE, a New Adaptation of Henry James' Tragicomic Novella

Axis Theatre Company presents Washington Square, a contemporary take on Henry James' tragicomic novella. Adapted and directed by Axis Theatre's founder and Artistic Director Randy Sharp, the production features original music by Paul Carbonara, a cast of four, and is performed in the heart of Greenwich Village, a few blocks from the story's 19th-century setting. Previews for Washington Square begin on March 11 at Axis Theatre (1 Sheridan Square, Manhattan), with a press opening set for March 15, for a limited run through April 11, 2020. Tickets are on sale now at axiscompany.org.

BWW Review: PRIVATE LIVES Offers a Taste of Throwback Theatre at Dorset Theatre Festival

Despite the valiant efforts of the cast, a strikingly handsome set, and beautiful costumes, PRIVATE LIVES will not be (pardon the pun) everyone's cup of tea. The material is dated and generally appeals most to an older audience segment and those who long for the days of Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers (not that there is anything wrong with that). To be clear and fair, many audience members at the charming Dorset Playhouse where this production of PRIVATE LIVES continues through July 6th enjoyed the presentation thoroughly.

DIG, written and directed by Theresa Rebeck (July 11-27, 2019), and MRS. CHRISTIE by Heidi Armbruster (August 1-17, 2019) fall between the Festival's previously announced runs of Noel Coward's PRIVATE LIVES (June 20-July 6, 2019) and SLOW FOOD by Wendy MacLeod (August 22-31, 2019) at the Dorset Playhouse (104 Cheney Road, Dorset, VT 05251).

Dorset Theatre Festival will open the 42nd Season on June 20 with a revival of Noel Coward's PRIVATE LIVES directed by Evan Yionoulis. Casting has also been announced for Wendy MacLeod's SLOW FOOD, the Festival's season closer. Peri Gilpin and Dan Butler, who played Roz Doyle and Bob "Bulldog" Briscoe on the NBC sitcom "Frasier," will star alongside Broadway veteran Greg Stuhr in this new comedy directed by Jackson Gay.

Ed Asner Sticks with THE SOAP MYTH for Tour

Following its first week of performances, Jeff Cohen's The Soap Myth-led by seven-time Emmy Award and five-time Golden Globe Award winner Ed Asner-will continue its national tour of concert readings on Monday, April 22 with a special one-night-only engagement at The Center for Jewish History in New York City. The reading, directed by Pam Berlin, will be filmed for future broadcast on WNET's new 24/7 arts and culture broadcast channel and streaming platform, ALL ARTS.

Hangar Theatre to Present Wendy Wasserstein's THIRD

Following their sold-out production of In the Heights, the Hangar Theatre will present Thirdby Wendy Wasserstein from July 21 until July 30, 2016. Set in a small, prestigious college town in New England (like Ithaca), the play tells the story of a professor whose seemingly well-ordered life is thrown into dizzying disarray after she accuses a student athlete of plagiarism.  Interim Artistic Director, Michael Barakiva, will be directing this production; he also directed the world premiere of this show at Theatre J in Washington, D.C. Join the cast, crew, and Hangar staff on opening night, Friday, July 22 at 8pm at the Hangar Theatre, located at 801 Taughannock Blvd, Ithaca, NY 14850 in Cass Park.
