William Gibson's The Miracle Worker is one of those rare serious American dramas you can call a real crowd-pleaser, as much as Oklahoma!, Hello, Dolly! or any other musical with an exclamation point at the end of its title.  Death of A Salesman?  Long Day's Journey Into Night?  Great dramas for sure, but not exactly crowd-pleasers.  Heck, we already know there's a happy ending.  It's called The Miracle Worker, for goodness sake.

Xanadu star Kerry Butler and Costume Designers Suzy Benzinger, Alvin Colt, Linda Fisher, Jane Greenald, Desmond Heeley, Willa Kim, Eugene Lee, Kitty Leech, William Ivey Long, Jeff Mahshie, Martin Pakladinaz, Sally Ann Parsons, Robert Perziola, Jose Varona, and David Zinn, among others will be celebrating the Theatre Development Fund's Irene Sharaff Awards given for outstanding achievement in costume design. BroadwayWorld.com has learned the the Jill Santoriello penned A Tale of Two Cities, which played the Asolo Repertory Theatre in Sarasota, Florida in the Fall of 2007 will open on Broadway at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre on September 18, 2008.

The first preview of Paradise Park - February 12 - has been canceled due to the complex technical requirements involved in producing this world premiere play. The first preview will now be Thursday, February 14 with an invited dress rehearsal scheduled for Wednesday, February 13.

Michael Esper, who will be featured in Manhattan Theatre Club's upcoming production of The Four of Us, has been nominated for an Irish Times/ESB Irish Theatre Award in the category of Best Supporting Actor for his work in the Druid Theatre Company's production of Long Day's Journey Into Night. The winners of the Irish Times/ESB Irish Theatre Awards will be announced at an awards ceremony at Dublin's Burlington Hotel at 7:30 PM on Sunday, February 10.

Producers of the new big-budget musical A Tale of Two Cities, which had its world premiere in Sarasota, Florida in October 2007, reportedly do not have plans on dropping James Barbour from his lead role - despite his recent guilty-plea for sexually-abusing a minor.
