NW Children's Theater presents SNOW WHITE, a fast-paced, award-winning original that reimagines the classic fairytale as an epic, anime-inspired adventure featuring thrilling martial arts sequences and live Taiko-inspired drumming. NWCT's 22nd Season of Plays opens with this energetic reboot featuring "the world's most famous detective." Recast as a young boarding school student, Sherlock Holmes (Andrew Fridae) quickly makes his mark on the Criterion Academy. Here he must befriend Watson (Mitchell Lenneville), navigate the twists and turns of school politics, and crack the case all while struggling to stay on the right side of the Headmaster (longtime NWCT performer and local comedian Kevin-Michael Moore). This world premiere adaptation is written by local playwright Jeff Sanders, who previously collaborated with NWCT on The Legend of Sleepy Hollow and The Swiss Family Robinson. With William Shakespeare's farewell masterpiece, The Tempest, Portland Shakespeare Project will entertain summer audiences with some of the world's most glorious poetry in this production directed by Michael Mendelson. A staged reading of The Admirable Crichton by J.M. Barrie will serve as a delightful three-day theatrical complement, directed by Jon Kretzu. Both shows will be performed on the Alder Stage at Artists Repertory Theatre. Tickets are on sale through Artists Rep's Box Office. Performances of The Tempest are Wednesday through Saturday at 7:30pm and Sunday at 2pm. Performances of The Admirable Crichton are Tuesday, July 22 and 29 at 7:30pm and Sunday, August 3 at 7:30pm. Take to the skies on the wings of a...peach? Anything is possible when young James Trotter (J.J. Pen) discovers a magical escape from his dreary life with aunts Spiker and Sponge (Tai Sammons and Melanie Moseley). A chance encounter with a magical stranger, a bag filled with mysterious crocodile tongues, and an unexpected accident lead to the creation of the largest peach the world has ever seen! After climbing aboard the giant fruit, James finds himself surrounded by a rag-tag group of friendly insects: Centipede (John Ellingson), Spider (Annie Willis), Earthworm (Sam Burns), Grasshopper (Zero Feeney), and Ladybug (Madeleine Delaplane). Adventure awaits the unlikely crew as James captains the peach across the Atlantic; flying, floating, and rolling away from a life of loneliness and isolation into to a brighter, more hopeful future. Portland Revels Presents CHRISTMAS REVELS 2012: AN APPALACHIAN CHRISTMAS CELEBRATION, Now thru 12/16

The Christmas Revels is packed with audience participation, music, dance and high-spirited fun. Eleven matinee and evening performances will play The Scottish Rite Center Theater, SW 15th and Morrison St, Portland, Oregon. The celebration opened last night, Friday, December 7, and performances continue through Sunday, Dec 16, Directed by Bruce Hostetler and featuring music by the Portland Brass Quintet & The Blue Mountain String Band.
