The Stephen Sondheim Society Student Performer of the Year competition – affectionately known as SSSSPOTY – was inaugurated in 2007, and in 2024 returns for its 16th year.

Birdland will present the return of songwriter Scott Alan, along with some of today’s brightest stars singing his compositions.  The one-night-only event will take place on Monday, August 5th at 7pm.

According to reports, Michelle Yeoh, who will play Madame Morrible in the upcoming musical film Wicked, has found her latest project. Yeoh will be playing the lead in the upcoming Blade Runner limited series from Prime Video, which recently began production. Adrianna Hicks will return to Casa Mañana to star in Grease this summer as Rizzo. Casa Mañana’s production of Grease is part of the 2023-24 Broadway season and is directed and choreographed by Gerry McIntyre and music directed by Matthew Stern.
