Timeless. Enchanting. Impactful. These three words clearly describe the classic musical SOUTH PACIFIC, playing at the DTC stage now through May 5th. From the hauntingly beautiful first three notes of "Bali Hai" to the romance of "Some Enchanted Evening," it's no surprise that this Rodgers & Hammerstein favorite is one of the greatest Broadway musicals of all time. Walnut Street Theatre's 2012-2013 Independence Studio on 3 season opens with a mix of classic Holiday songs and fun 1950's tunes in PLAID TIDINGS, just in time for the holidays. Directed by Larry Raben, this toe-tapping production begins with previews on November 20th, opens November 29th and continues through December 30th in the Walnut's Independence Studio on 3. Alexander Greenfield will direct a cast that includes Kate Shindle (Wonderland, Legally Blonde), Alex Brightman (Wicked, Glory Days), Theresa McCarthy (Titanic, Floyd Collins), and Nicholas Rodriguez (Tarzan, One Life to Live, Arena Stage's Oklahoma) in a reading of Michael Finke's new musical REPORTING LIVE on July 25th at 12 and 4 p.m. as well as July 28th at 2 p.m. as part of the 2012 New York Musical Theatre Festival Developmental Reading Series.

On August 15, 2011, STAGES ST. LOUIS hosted its third annual Cabaret fundraiser at the Robert G. Reim Theatre in Kirkwood, a benefit for the organization's Education and Outreach Programs.

Frances Hodgson Burnett's work, THE SECRET GARDEN, was initially serialized before being published in 1911 and becoming a children's classic. Several attempts by Hollywood have tried to capitalize on it's dramatic and hope-filled story, with the 1949 MGM adaptation, starring Margaret O'Brien, wonderfully changing from black and white into full-blown technicolor as the garden is revealed in all it's splendor. However. most folks today will probably be more familiar with the the rather staid, but thoughtful motion picture made in 1993, which was fairly well mounted. This current stage adaptation is far more appealing in any number of ways, with stronger acting and a memorably performed score being among the many highlights that are attractive to an audience interested in the material.
