The new season includes a world premiere, two hot-button dramas, a classic children's fantasy, a rock concert/music-theatre mash-up, and a party you won't want to miss. Alberta Theatre Projects announced their 48th season line-up that will run from September 2019 to May 2020. The Segal Centre for Performing Arts is proud to present the Montreal premiere of Old Stock: A Refugee Love Story co-produced by 2b theatre company and the National Arts Centre. Ben Caplan has released his third album, Old Stock in association with Rhyme & Reason Records. On his latest album, Caplan combines timeless melodies with a contemporary folk-rock twist as he explores the immigrant experience with profound understanding and wry humor. Adapted from the acclaimed music-theater piece Old Stock: A Refugee Love Story, the genre-warping album is inspired by the true story of two Jewish Romanian refugees coming to Canada in 1908. Following its seven week residency at New York City's 59E59 Theater, the play earned five nominated from this year's Desk Drama Awards including Outstanding Musical, Outstanding Music, and Outstanding Director of a Musical. It was also met with rave reviews from The New Yorker, TimeOut, and New York Times.
