Mazel Tov! The Jule Styne Celebration Continues! The York Theatre Company (James Morgan, Producing Artistic Director; Evans Haile, Executive Director), dedicated to the development of new musicals and the preservation of musical gems from the past, presents the rarely-seen musical Bar Mitzvah Boy, with music by Jule Styne, lyrics by Tony and Oscar winner Don Black (Sunset Boulevard), and book by Jack Rosenthal (Yentl), as adapted by David Thompson (The Scottsboro Boys), the second of three shows in the Winter 2018 Musicals in Mufti Series celebrating the work of composer Jule Styne. Performances begin TOMORROW, Saturday afternoon, February 10, 2018 for 11 performances only through Sunday, February 18, 2018 at the York Theatre Company at Saint Peter's (entrance on East 54th Street, just east of Lexington Avenue). Opening Night is Sunday evening, February 11, 2018 at 7:00 p.m.

The York Theatre Company (James Morgan, Producing Artistic Director; Evans Haile, Executive Director), dedicated to the development of new musicals and the preservation of musical gems from the past, presents a one-night only special event, an evening of song celebrating the legendary composer Jule Styne with The Music of Jule Styne, conceived and music directed by Ron Abel (Me and Ella; Hazel, A Musical Maid in America) onTuesday, February 13, 2018 at 7:00 p.m. at the York Theatre Company at Saint Peter's (entrance on East 54th Street, just east of Lexington Avenue).

Nancy Manocherian's the cell (Artistic Director, Kira Simring) will present the Off Broadway Premiere of BASTARD JONES, a rock musical comedy based on Henry Fielding's bawdy 18th century novel, The History of Tom Jones. With book, lyrics, & direction by Marc Acito (Broadway's Allegiance) and music & lyrics by Amy Engelhardt (Grammy nominees The Bobs), performances begin June 14 at the cell. Opening is slated for Thursday, June 22.

The York Theatre Company has announced the cast of the rarely-seen musical Bar Mitzvah Boy, with music by Jule Styne, lyrics by Tony and Oscar winner Don Black (Sunset Boulevard), and book by Jack Rosenthal (Yentl), as adapted by David Thompson (The Scottsboro Boys).

Hot after the announcement of Shuga Pie Supreme's queer-inclusive Cymbeline, a series of cast departures left the future of the project in question. Miraculously, at the eleventh hour, the remaining cast and creative team decided to devise a new rendition of the play.  

Directed by Charles Quittner, Cymbeline the inaugural production of Shuga Pie Supreme, co-founded by Charles Quittner and Anne Ciarlone. The play runs August 20th, 21st, and 26th at The Brick as part of their Shakespeare in the Theater Festival.

the cell presents the US Premiere of South African drama YEAR OF THE BICYCLE by Joanna Evans. Directed by Shariffa Aliby, it is presented as the centerpiece of the 2nd annual C.M.O.R.E. Festival dedicated to Creating More Opportunity for Racial Equity among playwrights, directors, and actors. Performances run now through May 2 at the cell (338 W 23rd St, between 8th & 9th Avenues). Irish Repertory Theatre (Charlotte Moore, Artistic Director and Ciaran O'Reilly, Producing Director) announced today an extension of the cell's (Nancy Manocherian, Founding Artistic Director and Kira Simring, Artistic Director) acclaimed production of CRACKSKULL ROW, by Honor Molloy. Directed by Kira Simring (Hard Times: An American Musical), CRACKSKULL ROW began previews on February 3, 2017 and officially opened February 10 at Irish Rep Theatre (132 West 22nd Street) in the W. Scott McLucas Studio Theatre. CRACKSKULL ROW will now run through March 26, 2017.
