TheaterWorks Hartford has revealed details for its all-female musical Lizzie by Steven Cheslik-deMeyer, Tim Maner, and Alan Stevens Hewitt. Directed by Lainie Sakakura and with music direction by Erika R. Gamez, Lizzie uses a searing rock score to explore the historical record of Lizzie Borden, the 19th century ax murderer whose controversial acquittal continues to fascinate the public.

The award-winning Doctuh Mistuh Productions, probably best remembered for its productions of Evil Dead, Heathers, Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson, Nevermore, The Imaginary Life and Mysterious Death of Edgar Allan Poe, and Silence, The Musical, returns to Austin to present Lizzie, The Musical.

'Lizzie Borden took an axe, gave her mother forty wacks. When she saw what she had done, she gave her father forty-one.' You know the rhyme, you may even know about the crime, but what happened after Lizzie Borden had been acquitted for the crime of the century?

'The Sound of Music' with music by Richard Rodgers, lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II, and book by Howard Linsday & Russel Crouse will be performed at The Weston Friendly Society of the Performing Arts this December. Coming off of a successful run of their production of Disney's 'Beauty and the Beast' back in May, WFS will open their 137th Season with this classic.

With direction from Hollis Welch Sullivan who began her tenure with the company in 1976, choreography by EMACT/Dash Award Winner and current Artistic Director Daniel Forest Sullivan, and Music Direction from local favorite Steve Bergman, this Tony award winning 'Tale as old as Time' is sure to warm the hearts of all audience members, young and old.

Night Fall, Hartford's annual outdoor community celebration of art, music, dance, nature, and seasonal change, returns for its 10th Anniversary production on October 9 at 6 pm in Keney Park. This free community spectacular features artists and performers drawn from the Hartford area as well as eye-popping costumes, masks, and giant puppets. 

Initiated by Hartford artist Anne Cubberly and a coalition of like-minded visionaries in 2012, Night Fall was created to celebrate the city's park system and neighborhoods by rotating its annual presentation to public park sites throughout the city.

On an extremely hot August day of 1892, in the house of Borden, a terrible incident happened. All is left are two corpses, one suspect, and three witnesses. Thus begins the journey of LIZZIE the musical. LIZZIE had its first performance on April 2 at the Dream Art Center Theater 1.

The Weston Friendly Society will postpone its production of Beauty and the Beast due to Covid-19.

Minneapolis Musical Theatre (MMT) is closing out their season with the Twin Cities premiere of the revolutionary rock musical LIZZIE at the TEK BOX in Minneapolis March 27-April 19, 2020 - and has announced the cast and the availability of tickets, now on sale.
