Exploring the lives of Camden residents, past and present, Camden People's Theatre's festival welcomes new artists, familiar faces and local participants as part of their 25th anniversary year celebrations. The festival will be headlined by Human Jam (7th - 25th May), a new piece conceived by artistic director Brian Logan, uncovering the biggest exhumation of graves in European history taking place in St James' Garden as a result of HS2 works.

Camden People's Theatre is set to turn 25 in 2019, celebrating its trailblazing beginnings with a jam-packed programme championing new work, amplifying diverse voices and unearthing local stories. A stalwart of the London independent theatre scene since 1994, CPT has been the birthplace of some of the country's most exciting experimental theatre, supporting artists and companies from Chris Goode to shunt and will continue to pave a way for bold new voices.

In 2017, Camden People's Theatre staged Come As You Are, a festival celebrating trans, non-binary and gender-queer identities: this year, for the first time ever, CPT will tour a host of artists, including some of the festival highlights, to venues across the UK with shows that explode and explore ideas around gender and sexuality, searching the rubble for answers, and passing the mic to the lesser heard voices of the LGBTQIA+ spectrum.

With two new festivals, three extensive runs of brand new shows and a host of new and returning artists.  Camden People's Theatre's Autumn season promises to deliver some of the best experimental theatre tackling some of the most pertinent and topical issues of the day.

Emo Nite LA is heading back to New York to take over Brooklyn Steel on Friday, June 22nd and will be bringing along a few special friends. The last Emo Nite party they through in the Big Apple in 2017 was all 3 floors of the iconic Webster Hall and it was a nite to remember. On this return, the evening will feature live performances by Travis McCoy (Gym Class Heroes), Craig Owens (Chiodos, BxC), Hellogoodbye and members of Finch as well as DJ sets by Ryan Kienle (Matchbook Romance), Brian Logan Dales, Dilly Dally and a special performance by Saxl Rose! The event is 16+ with tickets available now at emonite.la/bksteel.

Camden People's Theatre are breaking out the c-word with a new fortnight-long festival of works that asks questions about class. In August 2017, a Labour party report criticised working-class under-representation in the arts, and demanded the cultural sector work harder to fill the "class-shaped hole" in their audience and workforce.

In 2017, London breached its annual limit on air pollution after just five days. In an urgent new production by Camden People's Theatre in collaboration with King's College Lung Biology Group and students from Westminster Kingsway College, the critical condition and consequences of London's dirty air are explored onstage as the headliner of CPT's Shoot the Breeze festival.

Over 20 London-based theatres and theatre organisations, including The Old Vic, Shoreditch Town Hall, Battersea Arts Centre, The Yard and many more, have come together to launch STAMP (Supporting Theatre and Makers of Performance), a network dedicated to improving support for artists and advocating for the role of theatre and theatre makers in London.

Inspired by the lyrics to the iconic Pet Shop Boys song and developed from discussions over tea and recorded interviews, performance artist Tom Marshman uses deft gesture, voice, movement and costume to recreate the LGBTQ scene in Kings Cross in the 1980s.

New London mayor Sadiq Khan tells Red magazine, 'I'm obsessed with being a feminist in City Hall,' while distinguished columnist Suzanne Moore writes in the New Statesman, 'I hate all men… I once made exceptions. I was wrong.'

Theatre company Milk Presents has been announced as the first recipient of Camden People's Theatre's Home Run commission, for their new show BODIY (working title). The award will see the company supported with a £5,000 cash commission and free rehearsal space, as well as artistic, fundraising, marketing and business planning support, to develop their work-in-progress to a three-week run of a fully realised production in Autumn 2017.
