Yiddish FIDDLER ON THE ROOF Extends Until December 30

The 104-year old National Yiddish Theatre Folksbiene's (NYTF) critically-acclaimed Yiddish language production of Fiddler on the Roof, playing at the Museum of Jewish Heritage (MJH), is extending its run through December 30 to meet the high demand for tickets. The unprecedented success of the Yiddish language Fiddler on the Roof has inspired the production, presented with English and Russian supertitles, to be extended four times since its July 4th debut due to sold-out audiences. This is the final extension.

The 104-year old National Yiddish Theatre Folksbiene's (NYTF) critically-acclaimed Yiddish language production of Fiddler on the Roof, playing at the Museum of Jewish Heritage will dedicate its special 104th performance on November 10 to celebrating its 104th season, and to the resiliency of Jewish culture on the 80th Anniversary of Kristallnacht. Due to the unprecedented success of the Yiddish language Fiddler on the Roof, presented with English and Russian supertitles, performances have been extended through November 18.

BROADWAY SESSIONS is described as an evening of musical performances, games and open mic featuring a new Broadway guest each week. The show is created and hosted by Ben Cameron (Bway Wicked, Aida, Footloose, Dance Captain Dance Attack web series) and features musical director Joshua Stephen Kartes on piano.  This Thursday night, 10/4  Broadway Sessions welcomes the cast of the National Yiddish Theatre Folksbiene production of Fiddler on the Roof and more.

A downpour from the roof. Sounds crazy, no? On September 18th, cast members from 'Fiddler on the Roof in Yiddish' opened with an impromptu chorus of 'Singin' in the Rain' as tarps were spread to catch the raindrops from a leaky skylight. And then, wonder of wonders, the rain stopped (indoors at least), and session leader Maggie Davenport introduced the cast to an enthusiastic Lenox Hill Neighborhood House crowd.

Last night the National Yiddish Theatre Folksbiene premiered Fiddler On The Roof in Yiddish directed by Joel Grey for a VIP Opening Night audience and Gala which honored Jeffrey S. National Yiddish Theatre Folksbiene (NYTF) today announced that the highly anticipated American premiere of the Yiddish language Fiddler on the Roof, which began preview PERFORMANCES Off Broadway at the Museum of Jewish Heritage last week, will extend its run for an additional week through September 2 due to demand for tickets. The Press Opening takes place Sunday, July 15 and a VIP gala performance on Monday, July 16. Helmed by Academy Award and Tony Award winner Joel Grey, the acclaimed musical is being presented now for an 9-week limited engagement through September 2.

Inspired by last season's critically-acclaimed revival of Joseph Rumshinsky's The Golden Bride, another lost operetta of the Yiddish Theatre canon, The Sorceress will be the first piece brought to life under NYTF's new Global Yiddish Theatre Restoration Project. Directed by NYTF Associate Artistic Director, Drama Desk Award-nominee Motl Didner, with music direction by NYTF Artistic Director Zalmen Mlotek, The Sorceress will be presented as a work-in-development, performed in Yiddish with English and Russian translation supertitles, for 5 performances only, beginning Monday, December 25, 2017 through Monday, January 1, 2018 in the Edmond J. Safra Hall at the Museum of Jewish Heritage (36 Battery Place).

Playing at the Museum of Jewish Heritage, across from the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island, from which the story has taken inspiration, this limited Off Broadway engagement opened last night and will run through August 6th.
