Plays & Players' (P&P) Board of Directors have announced the selection of Daniel Student as Artistic Director, effective January 15, 2011. 'Daniel is a perfect fit for this position. He understands the historical relevance of Plays & Players in the community as well as where we are headed. He has been a huge part of our recent achievements and we expect even more great work from him in his newly established role as Artistic Director,' said Bill Egan, Plays & Players Board President.

Plays & Players, Center City Philadelphia's longest continually operated theater at 1714 Delancey Place, will perform the classic musical Camelot, running May 20 - June 6 on its Mainstage. 48 years after it began its first Broadway run in 1960, the last of the Lerner & Loewe spectaculars still endures. A true and accurate account of the 1599 zombie plague that spread to the Globe Playhouse, William Shakespeare's Land of the Dead mixes humorous horror conventions with meticulously researched characters and events from Shakespeare's life. With historical characters including Francis Bacon, Richard Burbage, and Queen Elizabeth joined together to battle zombies, Land of the Dead deftly crosses genres with a knowing wink.
