Theatre Now New York presented its 4th Annual festival of new musicals, Sound Bites 4.0 (sponsored by Music Theatre International and Disney Theatrical Productions) to a sold-out house at the Perishing Square Signature Theatre. An after-party was held in the theatre lobby where awards were given. Sound Bites showcases ten 10-minute musicals or musical excerpts in one evening.

This week The BMI Lehman Engel Musical Theatre Workshop presented its top works in this year's showcase. The event was held at The Marjorie S. Deane Little Theater in New York City and premiered performances of the best of songs written and composed by recent members of this Drama League, Drama Desk and Tony honored workshop. The Alliance of Resident Theatres/New York (A.R.T./New York), the service and advocacy organization for New York City's 360 nonprofit theatres, celebrated 44 years of service and dedication to the theatrical nonprofit community at its annual spring gala on Monday, April 11. The evening was hosted by celebrated three-time Drama Desk nominee Julie Halston.

The Alliance of Resident Theatres/New York (A.R.T./New York), the service and advocacy organization for New York City's 360 nonprofit theatres, will celebrate 44 years of service and dedication to the theatrical nonprofit community at its annual spring gala on Monday, April 11, beginning at 6:00 PM at Tribeca Rooftop (2 Desbrosses Street). The evening will be hosted by celebrated three-time Drama Desk nominee Julie Halston.

On Monday, May 11, musical theatre songwriting team Janine McGuire and Arri Lawton Simon will present an evening of their original music in 'McGuire & Simon: Looking Forward.' Joining them will be Kennedy Caughell (Elphaba understudy in Wicked national tour, American Idiot national tour), Christiana Cole (Laurie Partridge in off-Broadway The Bardy Bunch), Chris Critelli (Xanadu - Chicago), Kaleigh Cronin (Sally Bowles understudy and Lulu in Cabaret on Broadway, Lorraine in Jersey Boys national tour), Kellie Cullinan, Will Hammons (Figaro in The Barber of Seville at Lyric Opera of New York), Spencer Kiely (Spring Awakening regional premiere), Laura Kleinbaum, Joel Perez (Fun Home on Broadway, In The Heights national tour), Aaron Phillips (primary vocalist for Disney In Concert national tour), and Stephanie Torns (Elphaba understudy in Wicked on Broadway, Elphaba standby in Wicked national tour).

This year's hilarious and heartwarming NYCGMC Holiday Spectacular - Home for the Holidays - tells the story of a young man's journey to The Big Apple, the family he leaves behind, the holiday characters he meets along the way and the chosen family he ultimately builds.

Joey Contreras, Bobby Cronin, Jonathan Reid Gealt, McGuire & Simo, Michael Mott, Drew Overcash, Zoe Sarnak, and Brad Simmons will star in INSPIRED 3: A Benefit Concert for A PLACE TO BARK (TN) & SECOND CHANCE RESCUE NYC, on Sunday, January 26 at 7pm at Stage 72, NYC. Produced and created by Bobby Cronin, INSPIRED is a benefit concert series for animal rescue organizations across the country that will play every other month, with a rotating line-up of some of today's exciting musical theatre writers in a casual and intimate setting as they sit behind the piano and, unlike traditional concerts of their material, perform songs by other writers that have inspired their work. The INSPIRED series hopes to spread the word about the 2.7 million adoptable animals that are euthanized each year in America.
