Suzanne Vega Joins BOB & CAROL & TED & ALICE At The New Group

The New Group has announced that Suzanne Vega will join Jennifer Damiano, Ana Nogueira, Joél Pérez and Michael Zegen in Bob & Carol & Ted & Alice, appearing in the onstage role for which Duncan Sheik was previously announced.

The New Group will soon present Bob & Carol & Ted & Alice, starring Jennifer Damiano, Ana Nogueira, Joél Pérez and Michael Zegen, and Duncan Sheik, in this world premiere production.  Arriving as part of The New Group's 25th Anniversary Season, this production features Book by Jonathan Marc Sherman, Music and Lyrics by Duncan Sheik, Additional Lyrics by Amanda Green and Choreography by Kelly Devine.  Scott Elliott directs.  Previews begin January 16 in advance of an Official Opening Night on Tuesday, February 4.  A limited Off-Broadway engagement is slated through March 15 at The Pershing Square Signature Center (The Romulus Linney Courtyard Theatre, 480 West 42nd Street).

MCC Theater announced today the line-up for their Fall 2019 PlayLabs readings of new plays to be held at The Newman Mills Theater at The Robert W. Wilson MCC Theater Space (511 West 52nd Street): Gina Femia's Allond(r)a, directed by Elena Araoz; Ana Nogueira's Mask Only, directed by Mike Donahue; C.A. Johnson's I Know I Know I Know, directed by Taylor Reynolds; and Brian Otaño's The Dust, directed by David Mendizábal.

The Hysterical Womxn's Society brought together stars of stage and screen stars to help raise more than $55,000 at their first-ever benefit event 'Voice for Choice' last night at The Cutting Room. Award-winning comedian, writer and activist Judy Gold hosted the one-night-only event in partnership with the ACLU of New York, that assembled strong voices from womxn and allies in the Broadway community and beyond. All proceeds from the event supported the ACLU of New York and the National Network of Abortion Funds.

Colt Coeur's EUREKA DAY Comes to Walkerspace

Brooklyn-based theatre company Colt Coeur will present the east coast premiere of Jonathan Spector's screamingly funny yet profound EUREKA DAY. Spector's lauded play uses a heated vaccination debate at a progressive elementary school as a metaphorical lens for the escalating hostility of America's culture wars and our inability to listen to those with whom we disagree. This timely comedy is directed by Adrienne Campbell-Holt (Primary Stages' Downstairs, Colt Coeur's Joan). Previews begin Saturday, August 24th with official opening set for Thursday, August 29th. South Coast Repertory Artistic Director David Ivers and Managing Director Paula Tomei today announced the lineup for the 2019 Pacific Playwrights Festival (PPF). Second Thought Theatre Announces Area Premiere of EMPATHITRAX

Second Thought Theatre continues its 2018 season by reuniting Jenny Ledel and Drew Wall for the area premiere of Empathitrax by Ana Nogueira. Wall and Ledel previously starred opposite each other in Second Thought's 2015 hit Belleville by Amy Herzog. Carson McCain returns to direct after previously directing The Great God Pan (2016) and assistant directing Belleville and Booth. This year she directs "a compassionate, humorous, and unflinchingly honest portrait of a relationship that dares to test the limits of intimacy." Empathitrax begins with previews on Wednesday, April 4 and runs through Saturday, April 28. All performances of Empathitrax will take place at Bryant Hall on the Kalita Humphreys Campus, 3636 Turtle Creek Blvd. Tickets to Empathitrax can be purchased online at secondthoughttheatre.com.
