Athena Theatre selected eight playwrights for its playwriting group, Athena Writes, assembled for a one-year exploration of the theme 'A New Memory'.  It centers on Athena Theatre's commitment to supporting new works that push the boundaries of live theatre. These eight plays were curated and written while in residence with Athena Theatre.

Theatre enthusiasts will be thrilled by the LaBute New Theater Festival now onstage at 59E59 Theaters. There are four distinctive one-act plays being performed in the venue's intimate theater space through February 5th.

Produced by the St. Louis Actors' Studio, the LaBUTE NEW THEATER FESTIVAL, an evening of one-act plays, features the NYC premieres of short plays by Gabe McKinley, CaRy Pepper, and Adam Seidel as well as a world premiere short play by Neil LaBute.

Adam Seidel's new play OTHER PEOPLE'S HAPPINESS premiered this weekend at TheatreWorks, and runs through Jan 29. Under the direction of Leah Bray Nichols, this play won the 2015-16 NewWorks@TheWorks Playwriting Competition.

Playhouse on the Square presents the world premiere of Adam Seidel's beautiful new work, Other People's Happiness. On a weekend trip to the family cabin, Sara tells John that after 30 years of marriage, she is leaving him for a much younger man. Her decision leaves her entire family in chaos, causing the audience to ask the question, "When you give up your happiness for everyone else, what is your breaking point?" Other People's Happiness is a play about blind devotion, failed expectations, the redefining of family, and the enduring nature of love. Other People's Happiness is a winner of the 2015 NewWorks@TheWorks Playwriting competition. 

59E59 Theaters (Elysabeth Kleinhans, Artistic Director; Peter Tear, Executive Producer; Brian Beirne, Managing Director) is thrilled to welcome the return of St. Louis Actors' Studio with their acclaimed LaBUTE NEW THEATER FESTIVAL, an evening of one-act plays featuring the NYC premieres of short plays by Neil LaBute, Gabe McKinley, Cary Pepper, andAdam Seidel. Directed by Kel Haney, Michael Hogan, and John Pierson, the LaBUTE NEW THEATER FESTIVAL begins performances on Friday, January 13 for a limited engagement through Sunday, February 5.  The performance schedule is Tuesday - Thursday at 7:30 PM; Friday at 8:30 PM; Saturday at 2:30 PM & 8:30 PM; and Sunday at3:30 PM & 7:30 PM. The finalists were selected from over 100 submissions from some of the nation's most talented emerging playwrights.
