What did our critic think of CABARET at Omaha Community Playhouse?

The Omaha Community Playhouse (OCP) held its annual Awards Night celebration on Monday, August 1, to honor cast and crew members in the 2021/22 season. This year the Outstanding Youth Performance Awards has been renamed to the Jim Eisenhardt Outstanding Youth Award, to honor Jim's passion, work, and devotion to inspiring the youth of Omaha through theatre and the arts.

Bluebarn Theatre ended a highly successful run of Paula Vogel's INDECENT yesterday in Omaha. The play relates the controversial production of Sholem Asch's play 'God of Vengeance' on Broadway in 1923. The cast of the original Broadway production was arrested on the grounds of obscenity. Bluebarn with its cast and crew magnificently turned out one of the most beautifully produced plays in Omaha.

INDECENT is a more than decent as good theatre. I'd see it again if only for the beauty of the production. Performances run through April 14th with tickets available at http://bluebarn.org/tickets/ or by calling 402-345-1576.

Directed by Amy Lane, this cast is stellar. They aren't even acting. They flawlessly embody the MacLeods and lawyers living out their drama. There will be awards…lots of awards…for Laura Leininger-Campbell's production, EMINENT DOMAIN.

The BLUEBARN Theatre is proud to continue Season 28 with the historical drama, Silent Sky  by Lauren Gunderson. BLUEBARN Producing Artistic Director Susan C. A special event called the Patchwork Play Project will be held at the Omaha Community Playhouse as part of the Alternative Programming series Monday, March 21, 2016 at 7:30 p.m. in OCP's Hawks Mainstage Theatre.

The Omaha Community Playhouse opens its 2015-2016 season with MAN OF LA MANCHA, the multiple-Tony Award winning musical based on the novel Don Quixote. Written by Dale Wasserman with music by Mitch Leigh and lyrics by Joe Darion, the story tells of Miguel de Cervantes and his imprisonment during the Spanish Inquisition. Cervantes enlists his fellow prisoners into the telling of Don Quixote, knight errant, and his escapades as he fights for valor. I caught the preview last night and I have to warn you-it would be a mistake to miss this one.

The BLUEBARN Theatre concludes Season 26 with Thornton Wilder's Pulitzer Prize-winning classic, Our Town. The play opens tonight, May 7th and runs through Sunday, June 7th, 2015. Our Town will be the last show performed at 614 S. 11th Street before the BLUEBARN Theatre moves to its own home at 10th & Pacific.
