Kravis Center Announces Yoel Levi Will Conduct The Israel Philharmonic Orchestra On Feb 5

The Raymond F. Kravis Center for the Performing Arts today announced that celebrated musician and conductor Yoel Levi will conduct the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra at an upcoming presentation of the Center's Regional Arts Classical Concert Series. Levi is replacing the previously announced Zubin Mehta, who has to withdraw from the Orchestra's current United States tour due to health issues.

Yoel Levi is one of the world's leading conductors, known for his vast repertoire, masterly interpretations and electrifying performances. He is Chief Conductor of the KBS Symphony Orchestra in Seoul, a position he has held since 2014. Maestro Levi has conducted some of the most prestigious orchestras throughout the world, including in the Cleveland and Philadelphia Orchestras, the Boston, Chicago and San Francisco Symphonies, and the New York Philharmonic. In Europe he has led orchestras in London, Paris, Berlin, Prague, Budapest, Rome, Frankfurt, and Munich and in South Korea, Japan, and China. Yoel Levi also has conducted some of the world's leading opera companies, including the Lyric Opera of Chicago in addition to leading productions in Florence, Genoa, Prague, Brussels, and throughout France.

Of his more than 40 recordings, Maestro Levi led more than 30 for the Telarc label as Music Director of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra from 1988 to 2000.

Maestro Levi will lead the same program that Maestro Mehta had announced for the Israel Philharmonic Tour: Schubert and Bruckner.
