An arresting performer, the inimitable Akram Khan’s award-winning new solo, Gnosis, is a work of riveting eloquence drawing from sources both ancient and modern. The internationally acclaimed choreographer showcases his command of the Kathak form (classical Indian dance), taking inspiration from a character in the Hindu epic Mahabharata. Khan’s mesmerizing solo incorporates live music with traditional tabla, sarod and Indian vocals partnered by cello and Japanese taiko drums. A transformative performance, this marathon of superbly synchronized sound and movement displays Khan as a master of his craft.
