NWU Theatre Professor To Stage ONE HAM MANLET

A Nebraska Wesleyan University theatre professor and alumnus will return to the stage to portray 20 characters in 90 minutes in his play, "One-Ham Manlet."

The play, written and performed by Ryan Kathman, portrays a modern and often comedic interpretation of the legendary tragedy, "Hamlet." The show incorporates theatrical elements like stage combat, puppetry, and a whole host of dialects for the roles of Horatio, Claudius, Hamlet, Ophelia, Rosencrantz, Guildenstern, a ghost, and more, all while keeping with the universal themes of revenge, betrayal, love and family.

"One-Ham Manlet" runs Saturday, February 23 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, February 24 at 2 p.m. in McDonald Theatre, located at 51st Street and Huntington Ave. Admission is $5 and tickets can be purchased at theatre.nebrwesleyan.edu, or call the box office at 402.465.2185.

Kathman has extensive stage and screen experience with theaters and festivals in Minnesota, Tennessee, Kansas and Nebraska. A 2003 graduate of Nebraska Wesleyan University, Kathman has worked with Nebraska Repertory Theatre, Flatwater Shakespeare and Angels Theatre Company. At Nebraska Wesleyan, he has directed "Dividing the Estate," "Peter & the Starcatcher" and "Julius Caesar."
