The Museum of Modern Art is currently showing the film series The Craft: Casting Directors Ellen Lewis and Laura Rosenthal now through June 16th. This latest edition of MoMA’s series The Craft celebrates a pair of legendary film and television casting directors, Ellen Lewis and Laura Rosenthal. Ellen Lewis has collaborated with Martin Scorsese for 34 years and counting (from Goodfellas to his forthcoming Killers of the Flower Moon) and with Jim Jarmusch for 28 years (beginning with Dead Man); and she has also cast films by Mike Nichols, Steven Spielberg, and Penny Marshall, among many others. Laura Rosenthal has worked with Todd Haynes for over two decades—from Far from Heaven to his latest film, May December—and she has longtime casting relationships with Lisa Chodolenko, Paolo Sorrentino, Oren Moverman, Joachim Trier, Nora Ephron, and Jim Jarmusch, to name just a few.
