This year, Hip Hop is celebrating its 50th anniversary. This vibrant and welcoming culture started in New York, home to notable names in the breaking scene such as Kid Glyde and the Kids Breaking League. In October, New York will also be home to the second ever Pro Breaking Tour Open, produced by Luis “Sweet-Lu” Espinosa. Since 2014, the Pro Breaking Tour (PBT) has been a series of professional competitions in breaking. Over the years PBT has toured the USA, Canada and parts of Europe bringing in many cultures to this dance scene. The PBT Open is in partnership with Urban Dance & Educational Foundation (UDEF), a non-profit organization which aims to not only facilitate a competitive space for professional breakers but also educate and mentor the youth in preparation for what is to come, as Breaking is now an official Olympic Sport, making its debut in the Paris Summer 2024 games.
