“There is no exquisite beauty… without some strangeness in the proportion.” The exquisite, strange beauty Clara Coquette celebrates her birthday and the birthday of one of America’s greatest writers, Edgar Allan Poe. Born in Boston on January 19th, Poe’s short, dark life, strife with depression, poverty, and alcoholism, provided an influence for his ominous stories and poetry. Clara Coquette brings Poe’s works of mystery and macabre to life with tributes to the literary classics of “The Raven”, “The Masque of the Red Death”, “The Tell-Tale Heart”, and many more tales.
“Deep into that darkness peering, long I stood there, wondering, fearing, doubting, dreaming dreams no mortal ever dared to dream before.” An innovative and imaginative thinker, Edgar Allan Poe crafted stories and poems that still shock, surprise, and move modern readers to this day.
A Dream Within A Dream: A Burlesque Tribute to the Works of Edgar Allan Poe takes place on Tuesday, January 17th at 8pm at The Parkside Lounge. Celebrating her birthday, producer Clara Coquette performs alongside the amazing talents of Matt Knife, Broody Valentino, Divina GranSparkle, Fem Appeal, Johnny Panic, Mary Cyn, Viktor Devonne, and Seedy Edie. Join us as we dare to dream the dream created by the mind of Edgar Allan Poe.
