BIGGER, BETTER AND BLONDER: LEGALLY BLONDE To Open at Lillestrøm Kultursenter This Fall

LEGALLY BLONDE will open in Lillestrøm on September 18. The musical has been produced numerous times by local groups in Norway in recent years, but producer Lars Christian Wahlberg, who produced Shrek - The Musical last year to great acclaim, has big ambitions for this production. "This will be the biggest production of Legally Blonde in Norway to date," he promises.

The story is based on the novel Legally Blonde by Amanda Brown and the 2001 film of the same name. It tells the story of Elle Woods, a sorority girl who enrolls at Harvard Law School to win back her ex-boyfriend Warner. She discovers how her knowledge of the law can help others, and successfully defends exercise queen Brooke Wyndham in a murder trial. Throughout the show, no one has faith in Elle Woods, but she manages to surprise them when she defies expectations while staying true to herself.

The show will be directed by Christoffer Paulsen, choreography by Cecilie Marjatta Välinen (Annie and Rent) and Thomas Gunnari Røtting will serve as Musical Director. Paulsen had this to say about how he envisions the show, "Many people have a relationship with the famous film from 2001 and will probably have a thought about what they can expect, but what they will get in our production is a reflection of the time we live in now. This renewal will be evident both in the casting in the new translation (penned by Paulsen). The struggle for women to be seen as equal in a male-dominated profession is just as important today as it was 18 years ago, making the story still extremely relevant. Although we will stay true to the humor, the dazzling show numbers along with Laurence O'Keefe' phenenomenal music that will have you go dancing out of the theatre, it is important to portray the characters seriously and truthfully - which is what makes Legally Blonde such a special show," he concludes

The cast will headed by Linn Gabrielsen (Elle Woods), Lars-Jørgen Langli Kristiansen (Emmett Forrest), Marcus Rooth (Warner Huntington III), Vilde Cecilia Ratvik (Paulette), Christian Ranke (Professor Callahan), Emilie Berge Appelquist (Brooke Wyndham) and Karin Gjørv Rørås (Vivienne Kensington)
