AUDITIONS WILL BE HELD IN PERSON AND VIA VIDEO SUBMISSIONS.

PAA has a ramp from street parking level into the space. No stairs.
Show location (in Denver TBA) is on street level with no stairs into the space.
Sign-Up will open on Monday, March 25, 2024 at 9:00 am for an in-person audition time slot.
Please prepare a cut of a song (32 bar minimum) in the style of the show or from the show with your sheet music clearly marked. Piano accompanist will be provided. No a cappella or tracks, please.
All actors are also asked to prepare the side pasted below. Not all actors will be asked to perform this side at their audition.
Please bring a headshot and résumé.

PAY / UNION STATUS
This is a Non-Union professional production.
Flat pay stipends for actors and band members (inclusive of rehearsals and shows) will start at $1,750 and go up to $2,250 depending on level of experience, role offered, the number of rehearsals to which you are called, etc.
?No housing provided. Actors must have local accommodations and dependable modes of transportation.
REHEARSAL & SHOW DATES
Rehearsals are Monday - Friday, July 8 - 26, 2024 6:30 - 9:30 PM at PAA - Performing Arts Academy: 5690 County Line Place, Highlands Ranch, CO 80126
Tech Rehearsals are Monday, Tuesday, July 29 and 30, TIME TBD likely 10 am call, at performance venue: Herman's Hideaway 1578 S Broadway, Denver, CO 80210
Show runs Wednesdays - Sundays, July 31 - August 11, 2024. Curtain at 7 pm or 8 pm, depending on the day.
CHARACTER DESCRIPTIONS
Seeking:
HEDWIG
Vocal range: Very strong rock belter (high to B4) Should read late 20s to mid 30s
Any ethnicity. Any gender identity or expression. Any body type.
Description: Hedwig is the lead singer and musical genius of the punk rock band “The Angry Inch”, on a revenge tour across the nation. A ferocious force of nature, Hedwig is equal parts rock goddess, stand-up comedian, and vulnerable human being. Hedwig must be able to transform in and out of many roles throughout the show while remaining grounded in a strong base character.

References to sexual abuse, the body, and genital-centered discussions of gender.
Perform outside the gender binary.
Partial nudity at the comfort level of the performer.
Eastern Berlin Accent.
Improvisational skills and the ability and willingness to interact with the audience.
Must be able to move confidently and be quite active in high heels (no stiletto).
Must have the stamina to carry the show from start to finish while rarely leaving the stage.
Guitar skills are a plus but not required.
YITZHAK
Vocal range: Wide vocal range a must (high belt to an A5)
Any ethnicity. Any gender expression or identity Should read late 20s to mid 30s. Any body type.
Description: Hedwig’s husband and roadie/back-up singer. Yitzhak is bound by the constraints of traditional masculinity but longs to explore a more feminine side.
Yitzhak has a killer voice but must always be hidden behind Hedwig.

BAND
Guitar, Bass, Drums (Keys / MD already cast.)
The band is very much a part of the show and the storytelling, so we are looking for highly engaging, highly skilled rock musicians.
