Usage: Series will be submitted to festivals, and is a proof of concept for a larger series for cable and/or streaming platforms. Talent cast will be considered for larger series, but production cannot guarantee they will be cast again.

Talent Rate / Important Dates

Rehearsal & Shoot rate: $125 per day. JABAREE, TREVOR and GAV will rehearse. Possible rehearsal for CARL & FUQUAN.

Shoot dates: Either January 19 - 22 OR January 22- 25, 2019.

Shoot location: New York & New Jersey

Casting Timeline

Auditions: Please submit ASAP as talent will be asked to submit an audition tape in December 2018.

Callbacks: Mid-December 2018 or early January 2019

Synopsis

Set in NY/NJ over the course of three months, ELEMENT examines the socioeconomic disparity within the black community and its effect on opportunities that are available to and sought after by black youth. The series follows three friends (Jabaree, Trevor, Gav) as they pursue their aspirations of growing themselves within the music and film industry while observing the successes and failures associated with achieving one’s dreams.

Roles We’re Casting

Males roles:

JABAREE. Male. Early 20s. African American. Open to different physiques. Middle class background. Should be comfortable with rapping (does not have to be a formal rapper). Lives in the suburbs of NJ and drives a ‘94 Honda. College educated. A hardworking and aspiring music mogul and DJ. Has high standards as he’s a perfectionist, but feels held back by continuing to spin for the local scene. Must be comfortable with smoking a fake joint. LEAD. Shoot approx 2 days.

TREVOR. Male. Early 20s. African American. Open to different physiques. Upper middle class background. Buttoned up and put together. Uprooted from his parents’ house in NJ to Bushwick, Brooklyn. A college graduate turned hard-working creative professional. Loves being a professional film producer, but not working on content he’s excited to create. His parents’ marriage is on the rocks. Must be comfortable with smoking a fake joint. LEAD. Shoots approx 3 days.

GAV. Male. Early 20s. African American. Open to different physiques. Working class background. Off the cuff, not shy, fun to be around. You can find him eating his milk & cereal out of a plastic bag in random places. Lives in a housing project in NJ suburbs. While he has a strong interest in photography, he’s working to obtain and invest in real estate (which he sees as more practical). Must be comfortable with smoking a fake joint. Has love scene with the role of Olivia (please inquire with casting for specifics). LEAD. Shoots approx 2 days.

CARL. Male. Mid-late 20s. African American. Open to different physiques. Can be found in his Black Toyota with his right-hand man, Fuquan. Patrols around dealing drugs, Gav being one of their sellers. Must be comfortable with smoking a fake joint. SUPPORTING. Shoots approx 1 day.

FUQUAN. Males. Mid-late 20s. African American. Open to different physiques. Carl’s right-hand man. Patrols around dealing drugs, Gav being one of their sellers. Must be comfortable with smoking a fake joint. SUPPORTING. Shoots approx 1 day.

YAYA. Male. 19. African American. Please submit if you’re 18 or 19 year olds (no minors). Open to different physiques. Rambunctious and outspoken, funny, lots of energy. The opposite of his more reserved buddy Leroy. Must be comfortable with smoking a fake joint. SUPPORTING. Shoots approx 1 day.

LEROY. Male. 19. African American. Please submit if you’re 18 or 19 year olds (no minors). Plump / Heavyset physique. Laid back, chill type. The opposite of his rowdy buddy Yaya. Must be comfortable with smoking a fake joint. SUPPORTING. Shoots approx 1 day.

Female roles:

OLIVIA. Female. Late 20s to early 30s. African American. Her confidence is what makes her beautiful. Medium to heavier set physique, voluptuous. She is Gav’s lover and secretly works for Carl & Fuquan, the dealers Gav sells for. SUPPORTING. Shoots approx 1 day. Partial nudity (please inquire with casting for specifics).

SHONDA. Female. Early 50’s. African American. Open to different physiques. A strong hard-working career woman, and Trevor's supportive and loving mother. She and her husband are trying to keep their marriage strong. SUPPORTING. Shoots approx 1 day.

JANICE. Female. Mid-20’s. Asian (Japanese, Korean, Chinese). Open to different physiques. Conservative and assuming. A student entering grad school, seeking a new apartment in Bushwick, Brooklyn. Questions Trevor’s ability to afford a place in an up & coming neighborhood. SUPPORTING. Shoots approx 1 day.

MEGAN. Female. Early 20s. Caucasian. Open to different physiques. Trevor’s cool, fun and easy going roommate. Smart and open-minded. SUPPORTING. Shoots approx 1 day.
