NH Theatre Project Offers 2019 Winter And Summer Youth Programs

The Winter Trimester for New Hampshire Theatre Project youth education programs including the all new West End Youth Players, NHTP Youth Repertory Company, Tech Troupe, and Coaching begins January 16, 2019 at West End Studio Theatre in Portsmouth.

The theme for the Winter Trimester of the Youth Repertory Company is "Our Voices, Our Spirits" with Director Robin Fowler. Company members will create an original devised work based on current social issues affecting young people.

The West End Youth Players Winter Trimester theme is based on Alice Through the Looking Glass by Lewis Carroll. "West End Players is a creative science experiment for NHTP and students alike," explains director Rachel Vilandre. "For students, it's an introductory look at the world of collaborative theatre. This troupe is a great opportunity for students with a limited theatre background or who have less time to commit to rehearsal and outside preparation. This program will involve a lot of collaborative ensemble work and creativity and I cannot wait to see where this journey takes us."

Registration for 2019 Summer Camps for youth ages 7 to 17 is now open as well. Summer Camps feature the popular Youth Theatre Camp for ages 7 to 11, Teen Theatre Camp for ages 12 to 17, Build Your Own Musical Camp for ages 8 to 12 in collaboration with Portsmouth Music and Arts Center, and the all new Little Mermaid Camp for ages10 to 16. NHTP alumni Josh Goldberg has written an original musical based on Hans Christian Andersen's classic tale of The Little Mermaid. Campers will learn acting, music, and dancing skills as they prepare for the final performance.

New Hampshire Theatre Project is celebrating its 30th anniversary and three decades of bringing transformational and educational theatre to the seacoast. All programs are held at the West End Studio Theatre in Portsmouth. Financial and work scholarships are available for students in need of assistance.
