THE BAND'S VISIT, HAMILTON, DEAR EVAN HANSEN And More Announced For Broadway At the Marcus 2019-2020 Season

Johnson Financial Group Broadway at the Marcus Center and Broadway Across America-Milwaukee have announced that the Broadway Musicals, HAMILTON, and pop culture phenomenon DEAR EVAN HANSEN, will play their Milwaukee premiere engagements and anchor the 2019-2020 season.

The hit season will also include: THE BAND'S VISIT, THE PLAY THAT GOES WRONG, Lerner & Loewe's MY FAIR LADY, MISS SAIGON and a special four -week engagement of DISNEY'S THE LION KING with the performance being held at the Marcus Center for the first time.

"Our 2019-2020 Season is another proven winner that includes Tony Award winners for Best Musical from the past three Broadway seasons," said Paul Mathews, Marcus Center President & CEO. "Securing these amazing shows is due, in no small part, to the consistent support of our Broadway series by patrons from throughout the region."

"Revenues from touring Broadway shows helps keep the Center an affordable place for our local non-profit resident groups plus creates significant economic impact for downtown Milwaukee."

All performances will be held at the Marcus Center for the Performing Arts, 929 N. Water Street, Milwaukee, WI 53202.

New subscriptions will be very limited and will be available starting on Monday, February 18 at 12:00 pm.

There are no group tickets available for HAMILTON. Groups starting at 10 or more for all other shows should call 414-273-7121 ext. 210 or ext. 213 for more information, reservations and special pricing.

Tickets for individual productions typically go on sale to the general public four to six weeks prior to the first performance.

DEAR EVAN HANSEN has struck a remarkable chord with audiences and critics everywhere, including The Washington Post who says DEAR EVAN HANSEN is "one of the most remarkable shows in musical theatre history." The New York Times calls it "a gut-punching, breathtaking knockout of a musical." And NBC Nightly News declares the musical "an anthem resonating on Broadway and beyond."

DEAR EVAN HANSEN features a book by Tony Award winner Steven Levenson, a score by Grammy, Tony and Academy Award winners Benj Pasek and Justin Paul (La La Land, The Greatest Showman), and direction by four-time Tony Award nominee Michael Greif (Rent, Next to Normal).

The Original Broadway Cast Recording of DEAR EVAN HANSEN, produced by Atlantic Records, made an extraordinary debut at #8 on the Billboard 200- the highest charting debut position for an original cast album since 1961 -- and went on to win the 2018 Grammy Award for Best Musical Theater Album. A special edition coffee table book authored by Levenson, Pasek and Paul, Dear Evan Hansen: through the window (Grand Central Publishing / Melcher) is now available, offering an in-depth, all-access look at the musical, including never-before-seen production photos and cast portraits, behind-the-scenes stories, and a fully annotated script by the authors.

October 22-November 17, 2019

HAMILTON is the story of America's Founding Father Alexander Hamilton, an immigrant from the West Indies who became George Washington's right-hand man during the Revolutionary War and was the new nation's first Treasury Secretary. Featuring a score that blends hip-hop, jazz, blues, rap, R&B, and Broadway, HAMILTON is the story of America then, as told by America now.

Launching April 2019 in Chicago, HAMILTON: THE EXHIBITION will take visitors deeper into the life and times of Alexander Hamilton through the immersive exhibit featuring a dynamic, interactive mix of in-depth scenography, lighting, sound, multimedia, music, and an audio tour narrated by Mr. Miranda.

Spend an evening in the company of unforgettable strangers at The Band's Visit-now one of the most celebrated musicals ever. It rejoices in the way music brings us to life, brings us to laughter, brings us to tears, and ultimately, brings us together.

In an Israeli desert town where every day feels the same, something different is suddenly in the air. Dina, the local café owner, had long resigned her desires for romance to daydreaming about exotic films and music from her youth. When a band of Egyptian musicians shows up lost at her café, she and her fellow locals take them in for the night. Under the spell of the night sky, their lives intertwine in unexpected ways, and this once sleepy town begins to wake up.

The Band's Visit features music and lyrics by Tony Award and Drama Desk Award winner David Yazbek, and a book by Tony, NY Drama Critics Circle, Lortel and Outer Critics Circle Awards winner Itamar Moses. It is based on the screenplay by Eran Kolirin, and is directed by Tony, Drama Desk, Lortel and Obie Award winner David Cromer.

Lerner & Loewe's MY FAIR LADY
April 14-19, 2020
