THE BABY MONITOR To Be Part Of The International Dublin Gay Theatre Festival

Following a successful workshop production in New York City last December as part of The Theater at the 14th Street Y's season of War and Peace, Different Translation is pleased to announce The Baby Monitor will be presented in Dublin, Ireland, as part of the International Dublin Gay Theatre Festival (IDGTF). The Baby Monitor by award-winning husband-and-husband team playwright David Stallings (Associate Artistic Director of Arts and Culture at the 14th Street Y; NY IT Awards for Outstanding Original Full-Length Script for Dark Water) and director Antonio Miniño (Anaïs Nin Goes to Hell; Assistant Director Jesus Hopped the 'A' Train - Signature Theatre) will play eight performances from May 6th through the 11th, 2019 at The Teachers Club Main Hall (36 Parnell Square W Dublin 1, Ireland).

5 STARS - Opplaud NY

"Unafraid to navigate into previously uncharted territory, particularly when it comes to tackling the issue of the deeply ingrained prejudices still faced by LGBTQ people." - Lavender After Dark

"David Stallings has delivered something far richer than an issues play." - The Unforgettable Line

"A fascinating examination of how quickly intimates can resort to self-serving, backstabbing deception just when their loyalty is most needed." - Theater Scene

When Claire's concerns over the welfare of her two-year-old cousin are dangerously validated, she begins to question the family's principles and ability to parent. A crucial new play exploring same-sex parenting, race, and contemporary family values.

A finalist for the 2014 National New Play Network, The Baby Monitor was developed in Hollywood at The Blank Theatre's Living Room Series; in New York it received a workshop production at New York City's Theater at the 14th Street Y as part of their season of War & Peace, at Planet Connections Theatre Festivity's Playwrights for A Cause, at The Duo Multicultural Arts Center's Pride Week Festival, and Original Binding Productions' Naked Theater Festival.

With Leo Goodman as Josh, Mel House as Shelly, Amanda Jones as Claire, Antonio Miniño as Phillip, Greta Quispe as Soledad, and David Stallings as Damon.

Featuring sound design by Jacob Subotnick. The production stage manager is Rachel Denise April, and Ann Marie Yali is the associate producer.
