Jackie Hoffman and Jim Brochu Lead Industry Reading of THE HANUKAH GIFT

A private industry reading of the new play, The Hanukah Gift will take place on Monday, March 11, 2019, at 1:30 PM at the Actors' Temple Theater (339 West 47th Street) in NYC. A new play by Douglas Braverman, The Hanukah Gift stars Jackie Hoffman and Jim Brochu.

In The Hanukah Gift, a group of Holocaust survivors, currently living in Brooklyn, confront the reemergence of anti-Semitism in the United States. The six longtime friends are joyfully celebrating the first night of Hanukah in the home of Izzy and Miriam Perlstein, when they learn the shocking news that a gang of vandals has attacked and desecrated their local synagogue. Izzy reveals that one of the vandals, attempting to escape from the police, has hidden in Izzy's cellar where Izzy is now holding him prisoner. The Holocaust survivors must now decide whether to turn their captive over to the police, continue to hold him prisoner, show him compassion, or torture and kill him for revenge. The Hanukah Gift is thought-provoking, suspenseful, and enormously relevant to today's current events.

The cast of The Hanukah Gift will also feature Mark Nelson, Barbara Rosenblat, Ray Bokhour, Carla Brandberg, and Ian Tomaschik.
