Singapore Tourism Board To Ignite Passion For Art With St+art At India Singapore Weekender In New Delhi

The Singapore Tourism Board (STB) continues to bring the Passion Made Possible brand to life in India, this time, with a series of engaging activities at the Singapore Weekender in Delhi. As part of its second phase promotions of the brand to highlight the Passion Tribes of Culture Shapers, Socialisers and Action Seekers, the STB has partnered with the St+art India Foundation for a three-day experiential festival which will be held in Delhi from the 15th to the 17th of February 2019 at Lodhi Colony, KONA and antiSocial outlet at Hauz Khas.

Since the launch of the Passion Made Possible brand, the STB has embarked on a series of marketing campaigns and activations to showcase Singapore's passions and talents through storytelling, and to allow visitors to discover a deeper side to Singapore as a destination. This year, the STB, in collaboration with the St+art India Foundation, will launch a special project titled "Singapore Weekender" as part of the St+art Delhi 2019. Please see Annex A for more information on St+art Delhi 2019.

Mr. Chee Pey Chang, Assistant Chief Executive (International Group), STB said, "Singapore and India share long and deep connections on many fronts. India continues to be the third largest source market for tourist arrivals into Singapore. We want to continue enticing travellers from India with a storytelling approach for our brand "Passion Made Possible". Singapore has a rich art, culture and music scene that we wanted to bring to the fore, and our artists at the Singapore Weekender will help bring a glimpse of this to the Indian audience."

Elaborating more about the Singapore Weekender, Mr. GB Srithar, Regional Director (South Asia, Middle East & Africa), STB, added, "STB is happy to partner with St+art India Foundation and Impressario Group, for the second time. We share the passion of bringing art and some entertainment to public spaces, engaging a wider audience in innovative ways. Delhi has a vibrant art, heritage and cultural scene and our dozen passionate talents from Singapore are looking forward to delighting the audiences in the city with their artworks and installations. Atypical Singapore, an art and augmented reality (AR) technology showcase launched by the STB as part of its latest Passion Made Possible campaign and has travelled to cities of Moscow and Yangon, will be part of the programming for Singapore Weekender. We are excited and are looking forward to seeing both Singaporean and Indian talents coming together to showcase their best works and creating new artistic possibilities. By presenting Singapore in a different light through the passions of Singaporeans, we are welcoming travellers from India to live up their passions - be it art, music, travel, adventure or food in our city."

The founders of St+art said: "For the second year of this unique collaboration with STB, we are bringing the artists of Singapore to India. Each of them is passionate in making a difference and contributing to the changing face of South Asian art by pushing the boundaries in fields like AR, visual mapping, multimedia installations and murals."

Visitors to Singapore Weekender will be able to experience unique and innovative art expressions at three different zones - i) The Lodhi Art District featuring the Singapore Lane, ii) F(r)iction at KONA, Jor Bagh and iii) antiSocial at Hauz Khas Delhi.

The Lodhi Art District will feature a special Singapore Lane, where Singapore artists will be part of the transformation of walls between Khanna market and Meherchand Market into a public art gallery of wall murals. The exciting line-up includes artists such as Sam Lo, Yip Yew Chong, Yok and Sheryo, installation artist Tan Xi Zi, new media artists Brandon Tay and photographic artist Eugene Soh, the list of Singapore artists can be found in Annex B. Visitors can also participate in workshops such as the Zine festival by Knuckles and Notch in association with Bombay Underground, mixed media street art techniques by Yok and Sheryo, a Stickers workshop by Sam Lo and many such intriguing interactive experiences at the Singapore Lane.

Atypical Singapore, an art and augmented reality (AR) technology showcase, is part of STB's Passion Made Possible latest wave of global campaign. As part of the showcase, Khairuddin Hori, curatorial director and partner of Chan+Hori Contemporary, has handpicked seven contemporary artists with different specialisations, ranging from performance art, sculptures, painting, gif animation, video art to AR effects. Having travelled to Moscow and Yangon, will make its third stop in New Delhi at the exclusive St+art India pop-up F(r)iction at KONA, Jor Bagh. The exhibition will consist of an immersive walk-through of multimedia artworks by national and International Artists. The temporary exhibition will invite the public to dig into the complexities of our lives entangled in dichotomies and crosspollinations between technology, art and nature. Three of the artists, Eugene Soh, anGie seah and Mohammad Izdi will also be present at Singapore Weekender for live performances and interactions with visitors.

To profile Singapore's diverse and vibrant music, nightlife and entertainment offerings, another highlight of the Singapore Weekender includes the launch party at antiSocial, Hauz Khas Delhi where there will be a pop-up cocktail bar by one of Singapore's most popular bars - Jigger and Pony and performance by Singaporean rapper Yung Raja. The grand finale will be a "rap battle" between Yung Raja and Indian rapper Prabhdeep Singh, a first collaboration between the two artistes.
