Kumu Kahua Theatre Presents SHIPWRECK'D ON THE BODY BEAUTIFUL, OR THE TATS DANCING MAN

HI'Kumu Kahua Theatre proudly presents Shipwreck'd on the Body Beautiful or the Tats Dancing Man by Daniel A. Kelin, II , directed by Harry Wong, III, running January 17 ' February 17, 2019.

James F. O'Connell, America's first Tattooed Man, headlined P. T. Barnum's freak show, proudly displaying his head-to-foot tattoos. Shipwrecked on the Caroline Islands in the first half of the 19th century, O'Connell saved himself from death by performing Irish jigs'and so began the slow process of his assimilation into Ponapean culture. Based on a true story, this poetic one-man show recounts a compelling narrative of physical appropriation.

This production contains adult language and themes.

This play runs: Thursday, Friday & Saturday 8pm: January 17, 18, 19, 24, 25, 26, 31; February 1, 2, 7, 8, 9, 14, 15, 16, 2019

Sundays 2pm: January 20, 27; February 10, *17, 2019

*American Sign Language Interpretation available upon request.

Following the performance on Friday, January 25th there will be a free talk story. These talk stories are offered on the 2nd Friday of each production run and include an opportunity to gain behind the scenes insight from the director, cast and playwright (when available).
