BREAKDOWN

Synopsis: Fairview is about the Frasier family, who is gearing up for Grandma’s birthday. Beverly needs this dinner to be perfect - but the silverware’s wrong, the radio’s on the fritz, Jasmine is drinking, Dayton isn’t helping, and Tyrone might not show up at all! This well-made(ish) play explores what it feels like to be living under surveillance and it looks at who does and who does not get to control the narrative of their own lives.

This is a remount of a previous production and as such, all roles are cast. We are looking for pos-sible future replacements.

BEVERLY [CAST]
40's, African American Woman, upper-middle class, the responsible one. Can come off as uptight, but it is just because she cares deeply about her family and feels responsible for taking care of everyone.

JASMINE [CAST]
40's, African American Woman, Beverly's sister. The fun one. Always ready with some family gossip. Is jealous of Beverly but would never admit it.

DAYTON [CAST]
40's, African American Man, Beverly's Husband. Seemingly laid back and carefree. Pays more attention than he gets credit for and is is a good partner to Beverly.

KEISHA [CAST]
late teens, African American Woman, Beverly and Dayton's daughter. Precocious. Is self-aware and is unwill-ing to accept the stereotypical narrative being thrust upon her.

SUZE [CAST]
(+ other roles As Cast) 30's - 50’s, Female, Caucasian. She is the de facto leader of the surveillance team.

MACK [CAST]
(+ other roles As Cast) 20’s - 40’s, Male, Caucasian. He’s pretty chill and has a millennial's attitude and un-derstanding of the world.

JIMBO [CAST]
(+ other roles As Cast) 20’s - 40’s, Male, Caucasian. He’s a bit of a worrier and feels his status is under threat.

BETS [CAST]
(+ other roles As Cast) 20’s - 40's, Female, Caucasian. The newest member of the surveillance team. She’s very earnest and she tries hard to fit in with the group.
