Festival Players Presents THE MUSIC MAN For Kids

A 12 year tradition, Festival Players for Kids will present The Music Man Kids, February 15 - 18, 2019 at Festival Place.

For 12 years, Festival Players for Kids have been bringing fun and creative theatre to audiences in the capital region. The Music Man Kids is performed by a talented cast of local children and guided by a skilled group of industry professionals.

There's trouble in River City! When smooth-talking con man Harold Hill arrives in a small, tight-knit town in Iowa, he expects to dupe its residents with his elaborate moneymaking scheme: Despite his complete lack of musical literacy, he will convince everyone that he is a brilliant bandleader and recruit all the boys in town to form a band, pocketing the cash for instruments and uniforms. The problem? Some of the town members, especially the stern librarian, Marian Paroo, don't quite buy Harold's story. As Harold struggles to keep his scheme afloat, he also finds himself increasingly attached to the townspeople, who have all experienced a positive change since Harold came to town.

Previous Festival Players for Kids' productions include James and the Giant Peach (2018), Charlotte's Web (2017) and Disney's Peter Pan (2016).

Festival Place continues to be Alberta's #1 Presenter of Professional Artists. The 2017/2018 season showcased an eclectic mix of over 80 incredibly talented performers. The 2018/2019 season carries on the same ambitious standard of entertainment, with over 30 performances already scheduled in 2019, with new shows added throughout the year.
